Glen - Thanks for your comment. First, the Duel at Dusk 2017 event was held in San Diego, CA, very near where we (Drake and McTrowell) call home. As for activities,many of the events that we have here is Southern California include making things that are steampunk,friendly competitions such as tea dueling,or just enjoyable gatherings such as picnics. The outfits are just an added fun factor,and can go from a cap and goggles to full Victorian dresses to madcap steampunk backpacks. Our Duel at Dusk had four types of competitions,so we billed it as a "parlor event." Much to my dismay, I couldn't help but notice that many of the Google searches for "Chief Inspector Drake" are now displaying links to the upcoming movie about David Tristram's bumbling hero "Inspector Drake." See www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsB72x_OtGQ&gt . The movie grew from Mr. Tristram's popular books and plays www.bucctc.topcities.com/Drake.htm . Jolly good for him to go from stage to screen, but I hope it doesn't confuse our good readers into thinking that our Drake has anything to do with Mr. Tristram's Drake. The two are not in the same time period, and our hero is supposed to be less, well, accidental in his success. And for any of you who know Katherine and I personally, you'll know that the Chief Inspector Drake was invented from a steampunk persona, not borrowed from the English playwright. So sorry for the tardy post, but I lost a week while suffering from a leg injury that sent me to the hospital. While on business travel. In Huntsville. Alabama. I even had to forfeit going to the North American Cup fencing tournament in Detroit. Now you *know* I was injured. Sparky is planning to finish her next post today (Monday 3/28/11) or tomorrow.
