Google Android Blog : Android apps running on BlackBerry devices? It may already be happening

I am with Seandry. Not only is this not admitting defeat, it is brilliant. When the Android Market first started booming the first thing I thought is why is no one creating a way to virtualize this. I can see MS not doing it but for a company like RIM who may not be prepared to overhaul their sdk to make it more friendly this is the best thing they can do. If they could actually make a quality touch screen product hardware wise, update their OS, use Android apps, and maintain the security features they have and keep doing BIS and BES right they could get back in the game. I wonder if Palm errr HP is paying attention. Slap Alien Dalvik (I don't know if RIM is using this or something they cooked up) on a Pre 3 and I would be more than happy to give it a shot.

GeekTyrant : LOST Writers Making a FABLES Type TV Series - News - GeekTyrant

After the rumor that ABC was planning a Fables show and it never materializing, I will say that if they make a blatant rip off instead of the same thing, I will boycott every show and every channel they have.

Tenth Amendment Center : On Thought Control and Same Sex Marriage

For you, yes it is but not for everyone else. While you may believe that people started with Adam and Eve and that marriage was started there, there are others who do not. Judeo-Christian values may point to one man or one woman, but there are and have been other cultures that have had "marriage" with different beliefs on what that entails. I believe that each individual Church should simply decide what they are willing to recognize as a proper marriage and refuse to recognize what is forbidden against their beliefs. Get the government out of it, and allow people to make their own choices, as the article says. Allow people to have their secular marriages or perhaps a Christian marriage under a body that is much more liberal than yours. Then your church can simply say that they do not recognize it (nor should you have to.) When you are trying to keep people with different values you are simply trying to dictate the meaning of the word. Marriage has become a string of characters that represent a committed relationship. Would you feel better if homosexuals (or any other abnormal marriage) did not use the word marriage?

WMPoweruser.com : Windows Mobile ad click through rate higher than iPhone’s – developers missing an ad-sup

I believe having a freemium model is the best approach. You get people on the free app with an ad, and have a pro version for people who like it but can't stand the ads. If and when I start developing mobile apps, it is the way I would/will do it.

Blake Mitchell : White Palace Cafe: Food Fit For A King (giggles)

Thanks for your thoughts Regina. I will say that I do not have a problem with trying to keep things similar to an old look. It was just this building, and I can't quite remember exactly how it looked before. I wish that more people would open restaurants downtown and I might be willing to give it a try for a plate lunch, although I can't imagine it comparing to The Courtyard Cafe. As far as the TV's go, that is not really important. I just found humor in the attempt. I would lean toward either do TV's right or don't do them at all, and I certainly would not have nudity on the TV on a Sunday at noon. As I said, I am far from a professional food critic, I just wanted to share the experience and even though I said do not go there at the end, that was just based on my own experience.

Blake Mitchell : Google Buzz: Something New

I do not think that that is necessarily the case. If you look at their major releases they have not had this big of a snafu, Google Wave- This was announced, had several months on the shelf before being released, and had a segmented beta invite rollout. Google Voice- This was in an absolutely locked down beta and stayed in beta for what felt like an eternity (at least for those of us who wanted to get in.) On top of that this is a product that has been almost flawless. Google Chrome- Windows version came out and worked well enough to replace most browsers and has only gotten better. They did not rush on getting out a mac version. The Mac version finally came out this year and I have now dumped Firefox. Chrome OS- Code has been released for the super geeks who can put it together and test it, but it will be a while so no rush. Android- The initial version of Android was fine and did the basic functions of a smart phone. I think it may have been just as complete as a whole as the first iPhone OS (some areas better others worse) if not better. Now since we have hit version 2.0 Android's growth has exploded. Those are just a few of the products I can think of and in my opinion they are not experiencing the same new product pains, As a matter of fact I think most of Google's are flowing quite differently than Buzz. I think the problem with Buzz is that Google is strongly influenced by a culture of engineers, and I am not entirely sure that is a group that you want doing the beta run on a social project.

GeekTyrant : Win a Blu-Ray Copy of TERMINATOR SALVATION

The First Terminator movie is absolutely the best. It is really a different type of film than the rest of the series. It is darker and grittier than the rest of the series, and even though a liquid metal bad guy is scary, there is not much that is more terrifying than the idea of a mechanized Arnold Schwarzenegger hunting me down at all costs. Also, this movie is very thought provoking when you try to work through the fact that Reese is John's father, yet was sent back in time by John. I love to talk and think about time travel and how things are affected. Is Reese the father of a different John than the one that sent him back, and does that mean that a different genetic make up will result in a different future?

WMPoweruser.com : Ballmer re poor execution in Windows Mobile: “We've pumped in some new talent” “T

I think that WM 5 was fine when it came out. That is because there were less smart phone users and the progressions was fine. 6.1 was not really different from 5 on the front end so I think that probably hurt. The only thing keeping WM alive right now is exchange on the enterprise end and oem software (think HTC) and the ease of modification on the non enterprise end. My only fear is that going forward, Microsoft will become more like other manufacturers and start going after folks like ppcgeeks and xda and end up pushing the people who are hardcore WM users now onto android.
