On the eve of he start of the Premier League season, events have conspired to dismantle my meticulously crafted predictions. Tony Pulis has resigned as manager and head coach of Crystal Palace with immediate effect by mutual consent ((ie. I went about thus: "Fuck you, Boss!" And Boss went: "Fuck you too, Tony.")). This totally screws my predicted finish for Crystal Palace since a lot Palace's success last season and the continued success expected this season was the result of Tony Pulis' management nous. I could easily see Palace dropping to as low as 17th now. They'll stay up, but now I'm afraid they've been cast into relegation hell. Fock!! There go my predictions already.

I've always looked at Suarez as more of a terrifying true vampire than a cannibal. And now that FIFA has banned him for 4 months, there has been an offer out the Balkans for him to come and play football there. Ironic, yes? Well, almost. The football association of Kosovo, which is neither recognized as a separate nation by FIFA or the UN (nor by Serbia) has extended and offer for Suarez to play for one the club teams there on loan until his ban has been served. Not bloody likely to happen, mind. But stranger things.....and all that. More apropos than Kosovo for Suarez, would have been offer to play for ASA Târgu Mureş, the pro team in Romania closest to Sighișoara, the birthplace of Dracula, a/k/a Vlad the Impaler.

Well.....Fergie's lads went and puked all over his shoes up at the Hawthorns and West Brom beat ManU(re) 5-5. And of course, we went on to beat Everton 2-1 with Torres notching the winner at the 76th minute. As for Fergie's Noisy Neighbors....my Canaries beat them at Etihad 2-3 on goals by Pilkington, Holt & Howson. I can't wait for Thursday night now....we'll probably beat their ragtag sorry asses by a score of 105-0.

I want to apologize the fine vintners at Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards in Windsor CA for any seemingly implied negative associations of their products in this article. Their wines stand in sharp contrast and counter-point to the general demeanor and performance of Jay Cutler in last Thursday night's Bears/Packers derby.

Regarding upsets, I published my article before the 2nd biggest upset of the day became final on the West Coast. Standford upended USC by a score of 21-14. While not as big upset as Notre Dame toppling the Spartans at home, Standford tipping over the Trojans in their own house has national title implications. So I note this here for the sake of completeness.

And before someone mentions it, YES, the Badgers come-from-behind 16-14 win over Utah State at Camp Randall counts as an upset even though they won. Utah Freakin' STATE!! My word!! I can't even begin to describe how UTTER SHITE my Badgers have looked so far this season!

I must make a correction regarding the Korean Men's Soccer team. All they had to do was MEDAL at the Olympic games to get out of their compulsory military service, which is 21 months btw, and not 2 years. They were able to achieve that with their 2-0 defeat of Japan in the Bronze medal game. Bronze medal, they return home as heroes, and no military service. Fair play to them.
