This isn't a harsh policy - it is simply an effective way to meter a limited resource (your time). Clearly, the number of times you say 'yes' and it evolves into something productive tends to support this position.

Brad & I met in '06 - see http://www.feld.com/wp/archives/2006/07/an-exampl... for his take on that - and his position on meetings really is one of the best I've encountered.

Be yourself, but get to the point. Even when the point may not be obvious & you're thinking through a set of choices, like in my most recent meeting w/ Brad. Clarity really *can* develop in these 15 minutes bursts. Just be ready to hold up your end of the 15 minute deal.

If(when) evacuation is ordered, you can bet the nation will pay close attention to how effectively all those buses, currently on stand-by, are put to use.

I'm betting that it will *look* more effective (i.e. "We got everyone out") only because those who were most vulnerable the first time (the poor, elderly, & mentally ill) simply were unable to return to New Orleans after Katrina for the same reason they couldn't leave New Orleans before Katrina: they couldn't afford it - no car, no gas money, etc.

That's the classic short-term vs. long-term tradeoff.

What concerns me greatly, however, is that there isn't more attention paid to the oil / plastics relationships. In order to effectively reduce our total oil consumption, we'll have to be willing to make changes there.

Can we? I think our dependence on plastics - in everything from food packaging to medical supplies - is too great. What's the alternative to that?

I am holding in my hand a coffee cup made of corn plastic. Is 'corn plastic' a feasible mass-production raw supply? Can it be used as a 100% replacement for plastic?

Hey Jeff,

Yeah... it's hard to get past Godwin's Law on this.

hey Chase... just FYI. Brad wears t-shirts pretty much everywhere. I've seen Brad on a dais next to the future Governor of Colorado... in a t-shirt. (it was green iirc).

Funny but true: a meeting w/ Brad was the last time I ever "dressed up" for business. And for that - thanks Brad. Very liberating.

Sure, loud, noisy... obnoxious, even. But is he prone to opportunistic infections? I mean, really.

I suck at saying no. Lots better today than when I began my career. Also suck at sticking to exercise plans, specifically running. I've progressed up to running 10 miles around the bay when I work in San Francisco, but won't get my ass out onto the trails 1/2 block from house in Highlands Ranch.
