Like Audra, I'm a bit of a lazy reader, too -- insofar as I don't like coming up with possible scenarios ahead of time and generally am shocked/horrified by even the slightest turn of events. I never see anything coming . . . unless it's so ridiculously obvious that it's stupid, and then I wind up hating that sort of book. Heh.

Holy cow, that is one sweet present! Lots of awesome goodies. I would have gone right for the candy, too.

Though I"ll admit I was a bigger fan of Anna than Lola, this was still a really fun read! The San Francisco setting really made it for me, too, as I love California so much. And Cricket was definitely swoonworthy, though St. Clair still has my heart!

So sorry to hear of your loss -- losing a pet, especially unexpectedly, is very devastating. Send you hugs.

Thanks for writing up such an informative post! I'm a total nail polish junkie and got so excited hearing about the Julep program. Going to sign up (and hopefully you'll get credit?) soon! Just took the quiz and I'm American Beauty, which sounds about right. :)

Sounds like a moving coming-of-age story, and I can appreciate a difficult read! I have to be in the right mood for them, but the take-away -- if hopeful -- is usually worth it.

Excellent list! And yes, this is very much like my post today (apparently my great mind thinks like your great mind). I've yet to read anything by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but he's a writer on my book bucket list. I guess I'm just intimidated!
