The whole world is watching? I'm not watching. I don't care. I have more important things to worry about like taking care of my family and trying to better my life. These protestors are trying to ruin the lives of many hard working people just because they aren't happy with their current situation. Guess what, life sucks sometimes. You just have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on.
I'd imagine I'd be one of these protestors if I didn't have the truth.
President Obama wants to overcome political gridlock. I like the gridlock. I believe that the government is better when there is gridlock because it slows down their march to remove more and more of my freedom. Furthermore, the results of this jobs bill is based on pure speculation, and I do not think President Obama has a good track record of turning out to be right. A simple review of the statements and promises he made if the stimulus bill passed proves that he really does not know what the outcome will be if the bill is passed. I tend to think that since the first two stimulus bills failed to move things forward that a third stimulus bill with a stupid name will do nothing more than the first two.
The article points out something I have been noticing myself. These protestors speak in general terms that sound good to a group of people, but the minute you start working out the specifics, the whole argument begins to fall apart. Stating that you are against greedy corporations sounds cool, but then you start analyzing everything that corporations create, like this article points out, and you realize that without those corporations, your life would not be as convenient as it now is.
This is proof once again that these protestors fail to utilize any type of critical thinking skills, which is sad to state because a lot of them claim to be students with loads of student debt. I attended a university myself, and the first class I had to take was a class on critical thinking skills followed by each of my classes requiring me to apply those critical thinking skills. No wonder these students are mad. They obviously got a poor education, which is why they have joined the protests.
The logic of the "crony capitalism" arguments Sarah Palin outlined in her speech makes a lot of sense. What saddens me is will people listen? No, because many people refuse to use an aspect of critical thinking known as distinguishing the message from the author/speaker. Many people immediately ignore or downplay the words of others just because of who the other people are. People cannot adequately analyze the arguments from someone when they maintain a bias against the person who wrote/spoke those arguments.
There are people on both the right and the left who view Sarah as a threat even though she does have some logical and common sense ideas that can help push this country in the right direction. Sadly, I bet if you removed her name from the speech and gave it to your friends who disagree with Sarah, you might find some of them agreeing with the words, that is, until they find out it was Sarah Palin who spoke them.
Shhh, you are going to give someone an idea. lol
I agree that government needs to get out of marriage. That would solve all the problems between religion and homosexuals. Religions would be able to continue marrying those they deem fit and homosexual couples would have the same status as heterosexual couples.
I feel bad for all those people who have their lives ruined by the oil spill only to have the government step in and make it worse. I understand a desire to move away from oil in order to prevent further disasters like that from happening, but you cannot do it until you have replacement energy in place that can handle the demand that oil handles.
I was well aware of Andrew before the Shirley Sherrod video. I do agree that he will be associated with smearing as you have put it, but that is a price he is willing to pay. I think more people need to be willing to stand up for what they believe in regardless of how others think of them. Could Andrew have handled the Shirley Sherrod video differently? Yes, I believe he could have, but he made a mistake. Are people no longer allowed to make mistakes? If you feel that he purposefully target her, than I do not think there is anything I can say that will change your mind. I tend to believe that he had a different agenda in mind when he posted the video, but it just happened to take the turn it did. That is part of the game that he plays.
I do find the idea amusing, but you know that it would be blown out of proportion.
