He has made history alright. This dude is making Carter look almost mediocre. My biggest fear is that when he does come down from his high and realizes the country is dying to kick his butt out of office that he will involve our troops in his next attempt to get another snort of fame.
Whatever...this was never in doubt. The Dems were always going to find a way to pass this. Now we prepare for the fight.
Outstanding article, Mike. I am in the exact same place as you about the vote today. On one hand I want it to fail because I completely agree that repealing it will not only be extremely difficult, but the Republicans have shown a habit for looking like Democrat-light too often. On the other hand, I am ready for the revolution if this thing passes and this may be the proverbial straw that final keeps the Conservative movement awake and energized for the next decade.
"I’m beginning to think that George Soros is a GOP plant." LOL...love that paragraph, but I think your parenthetical comment after it is probably closer to the truth!
I can't help but think that this was a ploy by the Dems to get everyone including the Blue-Dogs all fired up over "deem & pass" only to take it off the table at the final moment in order to get folks to think that everything is better now. It is a PR ploy in my opinion and yet another tactic to try and squeeze out one or two more votes they need from Dems who were not comfortable with "deem and pass".
Where is the MSM on this? A memo like this if the Republicans were trying to pass major legislation would be red meat to the jackals of the MSM. Will any reporters be rushing to grill House leadership on this numbers they don't want to talk about?? Of course not.
I am a fan of Noonan's. She is soft at times, but I find her columns to be very fair and objective.
Does anyone know if this thing is passed using the Slaughter rule & reconciliation, can the President sign the original Senate bill into law or does the whole 2-for-1 package have to go to the Senate and get approved (with 51 votes) before going to Obama?
Kudos to Sen. Coburn! Based on what I am hearing, the Republican Senators have a few tricks up their sleeves if this thing gets passed using the Slaughter Rule / Reconciliation procedure....
@Rita I was wondering same thing. I fully expect Texas to be at the forefront of those states saying, "No way in Hell!"
