Reminded of a quote by Oscar Ameringer..."Politics is the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich, by promising to protect each from the other."
For the common good, somebody should be making hay about this issue. The contraceptive mandate is just one small step along the road to death panels. If Obamacare isn't stopped, death panels (under a flowery name, a lib specialty) will be as much a mathematical certainty as an eventual sovereign default.... or hyperinflation. And the left will say it has to be done for the common good, of course.
Read a quote somewhere and I can't even remember who actually said it, it went something like "People who would never think of breaking into someone's home and stealing their property have grown all too comfortable allowing the government to do so." Much of the greatness of America lies in the work ethic and voluntary charitable deeds of its citizens. Disincentivizing the former while forcibly coercing the latter eats at the moral foundations that helped make this country exceptional.
Nothing new. The actual unemployment numbers have NEVER been reported accurately during this administration. The only redeeming quality these farcial numbers have is allowing savvy investors to sell their stocks a bit higher while giving them the opportunity to buy gold at a cheaper price.
"Lies, damned lies and statistics." Mark Twain
An even better description would be "moochbags". Sorry Maher, your ideology owns 'em. They represent YOUR failed view of a bigger-is-better government model that requires the moral hazard of living off one's more productive neighbor.
"A government that borrows from Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." G.B. Shaw
Ironic quote by Ronald Reagan "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction."
Here, here Congressman. Private sector entrepreneurs and financiers are sitting on their capital until this POTUS is out of office. A hundred years from now historians will shake their heads incredulously while wondering how a citizenry allowed themselves to be preyed upon by a ruling class.
Kudos to AB and crew. Wonder if Nancy Pelosi jumped up cheerleader style? Anyhow, the crooner-in chief's (Welfare) State of the Union Address was, to say the least, a bit skimpy on facts and details. But, apparently there's no need for pesky math.....or the private sector.
This worn-out meme will have some serious blow-back. The left should remember that white votes elected Obama in 2008. The astro-turfed guilt trip won't be as effective this time.
Conservatives have been advocating for fair taxes for many years but that's not really the issue to libs who need the class-envy meme to exploit.
