I really wish the firefighters would stop airing out all their personal grievances with other firefighters in public. Poor form, and hurts our community relationship with the district/departments etc. I believe there is a blog somewhere that you guys can act like a bunch of petty schoolgirls without bothering the community with your tripe. I do not give a crap if Chrispy rubs the Farter the wrong way - I only care that he will show up when my stupid house is on stupid fire. Thanks, Farter for turning a simple, cute, community oriented promotion for our districts into your personal beef-o-rama.

I have yet to hear any of the candidates propose doing away with a whole department... yet. There is still time, I suppose.
But electoral integrity? Administrative matters?
If we cannot trust the Clerk and Recorder to ensure that candidates have met all of the requirements (there are not that many) before certifying them, we have a problem in that office. Understanding the law, which is simple, and making sure candidates are qualified before doing so is hardly a mere administrative matter. Brush it off, Roger, and try to get the rest of us to, if it makes you feel more secure. I will not be brushing this off, or anything else off, until after the primary and general elections.

And library districts will pop up, too. I think Gilpinites are the sort to support such a levy should it become an issue. Libraries will have to change like the rest of us to meet the needs of the times and retain support, whether through taxation, donation, or a private model. And indeed they do. Like the gentleman above, I have not checked out a book from a library in a precious long time, but I use our library in other ways, and know so many who benefit greatly, in ways that I would like to encourage in the community in which I live. I am open to ideas about the role our library would play in our community in changing times. One of those changes is attitudes about how government is used. It will need to be dealt with in any case, and will be a good test for our community to determine what it values. A library that can answer to concerns before they become an issue will fare better, but votes are the only true tally. We shall see.
