There's nothing more obnoxious to me than someone whose gig is to "shock the squares" because, like Gaga, they inevitably go for the cheapest, laziest "shock" because they don't know what they're talking about. "Look how edgy I am! I make fun of teh X-tians and dress in ways your (grand)parents don't approve of!" lol. It's the Kindergarten version of counter-culture (which is why it's immensely popular and thus not actually counter-culture: it's "edgy" without any commitment).
