Agreed completely about the chicken-and-egg problem, and I can think of no decent response. Like you said, the unions will have an effectively endless pot of cash to fight reforms until we get reforms in place...

Issue 3 proved union voters aren't guaranteed to support President Obama, but OFA would be much more deliberate about piggybacking on We Are Ohio's messaging this year. Even though Issue 2 ended up being a blowout, Obama's team obviously knows the importance of powerful unions and didn't want to risk tying unions to Obamacare in voters' minds.

Hopefully it's all a moot point, and we can give the issue the attention it deserves in 2013... with a Republican president, and more conservatives in Congress!

As to "Who cares," the answer is a huge number of American voters, Jewish and otherwise.

There's speculation that, starting in January, the General Assembly may pass some of the more popular aspects of the bill piecemeal. Unfortunately, there are a number of Republicans in that body without a backbone in theirs.
