in Australia, you're charged per subject, and as a full time student you'd do 8 subjects a year. It depends on your subject, law subjects can be very expensive ($1000 a subject), but my courses are $660 each. So over a year, that's ...$5,300+ a year. Textbooks, reading material etc are extra, usually $50-200 a textbook.

We have HECS, which means the Government will pay for all of it (as long as you haven't studied at university, on HECS for over... 6 years?), and you will only pay it back when you earn more than $40,000 a year. You get discounts for paying upfront whilst you're still at school.

Yasmin - Actually my mum, she's the one that wants me on them, and I can't say I'm complaining. I couldn't afford them myself, but when she stops paying, they'd be my cost.
