How can a Total Belief-System, one that locates political legitimacy not in the will expressed by the people, but only in the will expressed by Allah (in the Qur'an, as glossed by the Sunnah), and that sees individuals as mere "slaves of Allah" who are of no importance in Islam, a collectivist faith that punishes severely those who dare to question what Allah Prohibits and what Allah Commands? And if democracy itself is alien to Islam, even more alien to it is the principle of legal equality of men and women, and of Muslims and non-Muslims.

And that is the problem, or rather the o'erweening presence, of Islam, that forms and molds the minds of men in Iraq, and that made the initial messianic sentimentalism of creating a "Light Unto the Muslim Nations" --by which Iraq, with power transferred from Sunni to Shi'a Arabs, was somehow to inspire all the other, Sunni Arab states -- such folly. And that folly, once abandoned, was supplanted by another folly, the policy which then became the no-less-missing-the-pointness of "bringing freedom" to "ordinary moms and dads." Islam does not encourage, but discourages democracy in the Western sense.

The entire situation in The Mideast is the culmination of errors dating back decades if not centuries. The only time The West ever saw pis-slam for what is is was during The Crusades which is currently looked upon as a shameful era for The West. Up until now The West's relation to the pis-lamic world has been like the little chickenhawk in the Ffoghorn-Leghorn cartoon. Foghorn-Leghorn just playfully shrugs off the small predator, but the little chickenhawk is dead serious about eating the rooster. What we now have is a growing/grown chickenhawk and Foghorn-Leghorn has Alzheimers and dementia. With the amount of time, effort, money, and blood spent on these animals, the oilfields could have been conquered and secured a long time ago.

Don't worry, President Rasool )pbuh( will not take this Maliki power grab sitting down...He will stand up, and use against Maliki, the most powerful weapon of deterrence known to man...Money... The reason that the two guys in the picture look worried and anxious, is because they are broke (Actually they are not broke, just greedy)...But Rasulallahaha will fix that. If Rasool can bail out the car industry, he can certainly pump up a few Mid Eastern flat tires... But it's not money wasted...Look how much good US taxpayer money has done for the Mid East, especially places like Iraq, Egypt, Gaza, PA....US taxpayers money is doing wonders in Pakistan and Yemen... As long as Rasool Obama has the key to the vault, and can issue the money salve to Mahounds like Maliki in the form of jiza, we are safe... Of course the taxpayer will have to work harder and longer for less in order to pay for this safety, which is something they didn't consider when they voted for 'change'. At the end of the day that's all you will have left 'change', and Maliki will want that too...We better get that vault key away from Rasool, before the well runs dry... Tea party anyone?

And of course the Americans, it seems, unwilling to recognize that the inability for Muslim Iraqis to compromise with one another, and the alacrity, the natural alacrity, with which violence is resotred to, are both explicable by reference to Islam, will not dare to admit that they have misunderstood, in different stages and in different ways, the problem that will not go away in Iraq.

This was all perfectly predictable, and has been predicted, at JW, for those who care to consult the Archives, long ago. Each side, or every side, has been eager to exploit the Americans against their enemies. Each side, or every side, has been indifferent to the American casualties, and ungrateful for the American effort. After squandering more than two trillion dollars, more than 4,300 dead, tens of thousands of severely wounded, hundreds of thousands of those who are suffering long-term disabilities including mental disturbance, the Americans are now being asked by Maliki to make sure that the new dispensation, rule by Shi'a Arabs, is not challenged either by Kurds in Mosul or by Sunni Arabs, in east-central Iraq, in Diyala Province, with such Sunni strongholds as Baquba.
