Wax poetic about the inline-6's all you like, but a nicely sorted M42 E30 318 or a M44 E36 318 or Z3 1.9 really is a joy to drive. Not the fastest things on earth but plenty responsive and happy to rev.

I'm shopping for an E30 M3 right now and I'm a little disturbed by the amount of M50/S50/S52 swaps into that chassis that seem to be popping up. It's a real shame IMO and makes the car just a lil' less special.
