I am talking about civilizations. The Arab Muslims replaced the Assyrian culture, converted or subsumed or enslaved or slaughtered the native populations. North Africa, with long Mediterranean influence, was a bastion of culture, intellectual pursuits, and economic development. Actually, the spread of Christianity (not by the sword!) enriched and fortified the Sumerian regions and Assyrian Christianity is one of the oldest sects. But guess whose "live by the tip of the spear" religion crushed them into oblivion as their own culture? Africa had a far brighter future without the scourge that vomited from Yemen and Saudi Arabia all over North and East Africa.
