I like what Ron Paul has to say as much as anyone...but I don't think he could ever get elected as President. I don't think he even believes that he could get elected! Being a perennial candidate gives him a perfect forum to get these wonderful conservative principles out in the public eye and discussed at length.

However, shallow as it seems, he doesn't "look" or "sound" like the president. The American Idol electorate isn't going to elect somebody that reminds them of their crazy uncle! So, as much as I like what Paul has to say, I have to think more practically in terms of who can beat the smooth-talking campaign machine of Obama.

When I look at the current field, Perry is the only one who fits the bill. He's an excellent campaigner, and while he's not my favorite politician I will take him over big O any day!

Care to note any of these jumps in assumptions? Point out any of the breaks? We would all be fascinated!

Trend...definitely. I opened my local paper today and was amazed to see a mainstream adoption of this phenomenon. It's a "wire report" and ran in a bunch of papers... I read it in the Dallas Morning News. http://bit.ly/dBwwnV

I realize you haven't been up and running for long enough to know for sure, but what are you expecting in terms of seasonality? Do people go to college football websites in February? How will that affect ad revenue?

I think a terrifying dose of humility is in store for many of the unemployed. Your older unemployed manager may have to realize he's not going to be a manager anymore. And the unemployed autoworker will have to realize that they're not an autoworker anymore. While it will take drastic changes in lifestyle, location, and a change in stature from a high-paid union worker or manager to a minimum wage associate at Wal-Mart that's the only functional alternative...you can't just sit around and wait for somebody to rescue you!

Sheer idiocy. I watched a major network news broadcast last night where they were talking about social security not increasing, but not to worry because cost of living hasn't increased...the Cost of Living calculations don't include food and energy! They went on to interview all of these people saying how they were upset because food is more expensive, but their income is not increasing.

I accept and agree that there is deflation at work in the market, but any attempt to stop it is just going to delay and exacerbate the problem! Endless inflation is not sustainable!
