Doing this does nothing but increase costs, continues our dependence on other counties for our energy and eliminates or reduces tax revenue for the city and county.

Yes, there are dangers with any industrial operation. Yes, accidents do happen. However, you can't stop doing something just because of what might happen. If you think like that then why drive a car, go on an airplane, etc?

The city is overreaching on this one. It needs to quit micromanaging every little stinking part of every business in this city. Maybe once all the businesses leave Longmont you guys might finally figure it out.

Rather than blaming Sears or the other retailers like Target and Walmart for selling cheap Chinese products. Let's look at the City of Longmont. The utter failure of this city to embrace and support business is a large part of the reason business is down and other businesses are leaving.

I made the mistake of keeping my small business in Longmont. I thought I was doing the right thing by my 14 employees and the community. That turned out to be a bad move. The bueracratic bologna I had to go through cost me nearly $100,000 by the time i was all done.

This city prevented me from hiring this year. This city cost my current employees their profit sharing this year. Money that maybe they would have spent at Sears.

Mayor Baum tried. But now it looks like we elected more anti business liberals. I also see we hired an new corrdinator for the Arts program. Ya, that will bring in business. Another administrative failure by the city that hates business.

The last I checked Longmont had over 1 million square feet of empty manufacturing space and 26 empty buildings on Main St. In 4 years this city will lose another business along with the jobs and tax revenue that goes with it when I pull my business out and move to a city that wants the business. .
