I thought he occupied the position of the wolverine in the ancient punishment where a man, a wolverine and a snake were sown up together in a sack before being thrown en masse into the Tiber. The wolverine had to do what he was born to do, and there was at least a 50/50 chance he'd surface again, whereas the man and the snake were likely finished. I have to thank the telecom company that used Cheney's image in a negative way on a giant-sized postcard as a kind of bogeyman- I framed it and it hangs where he can frighten the emotional children masquerading as adults that one on occasion is forced into close quarters with. His visage usually elicits some kind of viceral response: lip noise, a peeved gasp, stuttering. From that I can compile profiles of gutlessness on acquaintances, siblings and other tools.
