MetsBlog.com : Poll: Biggest Worry

I'm not sure I would agree. sure they left men on base during the Santana loss, but remember that JJ was pretty good that day as well. Also, they ultimately lost the game casue of a freak error. As far as yesterday, they hit two balls ont he button with runners on base (Delgado and Santos) that could have very easily been hits, and the Mets probably wint he game.

The thing that I feel will ultimately prove to be the Marlins undoing is their team defense. They have good young pitching and we know they can hit, but eventually their inability to catch the ball on a consistent basis will do them in IMO...I hope...

If you had asked this question on Friday instead of Monday there is no question that SP would have been far and away the most chosen answer. But that's Met fans for you - reactionary and a bunch of lemmings.

Haha - how annoying is it to see all those empty seats going unused. I was trying to figure out a way to get down there. Anyone know if you can get down there? I'll find a way sooner or later.

Agrred, particularly this "a source said a number of Met officials were in and out of the club looking at the signature as if deciding what to do. " I mean if you want to remove it, then remove it, stop calling more attention to it by sending in suits to examine it like its evidence of some sort.

I think you have to take into account that a lot of people are still getting out there for their first trips, and while I don't defend it, they may be just as interested in exploring the place as they are in watching the game. I think once the "newness" of the place wares off a bit people will return their attention to the game. I think it is wise to reserve your judgment until you have been there a few times. I went to 2 games this weekend and I enjoyed both, but the second one really got me excited. The first game it was great, but kind of a weird experience. Once people get comfortable I think the sound will return.

Was there on Friday and Sunday. I think if you guys keep an open mind you will really enjoy the place and no, u won't really notice this great lack of Mets history. IMO it has about the same amount of Mets history as Shea did.

I'm sure I'm not alone, but at this point, I think most rational fans are getting a little tired of this whole issue. That said, I couldn't agree with you more in that after spending the weekend there I really don't see any difference between Citi and Shea. They both have about the same Mets related stuff in IMO. Yes, the stadium isn't blue, but let's move on already. the place is great and it's state of the art. Question: Who has two thumbs and likes Citi? Answer - this guy.

I went out to Citi for the first time this Friday and Sunfday and I have to say that I was really impressed with the stadium. I think the first time you go, it's just a bit of culture shock almost when compared to watching a game at Shea. Like I said, I went back yesterday and despite the result of the game, really enjoyed the place and started to get excited about being able to watch games here in the future. As far as the paucity of mets related hsitory, I have to be honest, I really wouldn't have noticed anything amiss if people hadn't been complaining about it. I mean it wasn't as if Shea was some Mets Shrine. Anyway, I hope that this incident with Doc doesn't mean he will be away from the Mets for another 10 years.

Trust me I've been there. I actually had him a couple of years ago and he had a decent year, but fantasy wise he isn't going to give you the #'s he is capable with that lineup. I stay away...then again I've solved that problem with Longoria, so I'm cool with how it played out. Haha.

45 mill over 5 years is certainly nothing to sneeze at, but you have to think that somewhere in Zimmerman's mind he wants to get out of there. He just has absolutely no protection in that lineup. Kind of a shame casue he could be a real star, but doesn't get the attention he deserves on that team.

Dirty, it also helps that Jaramillo coaches the Rangers, a team that is always loaded with good hitters and plays in a park where the ball flies out. I'm not denying that he is a good coach, but it could also be a chicken and the egg thing - is he so good because of the hitters or does he make them better. I don't know enough about him to answer one way or the other, but I do find it strange that he never wants to leave there.

I remember having this conversation with you in the past, and while I respect your opinion, I think you are giving way too much credit to the effect a hitting coach has on the success (or lack thereof) of the offense. I mean this lineup is comprised of established veterans and up and coming all stars - is there really anything any coach is going to say to Carlos Delgado or Beltran that they haven't heard a thousand times before.

So Rick Downs is the answer??? Cmon TRS - they hit two bullets right at the Brewers. If ither of those bals (Delgado or Santos) are a couple of feet one way or the other the Mets win easy and we aren't having this conversation.

Well, that was a frustrating loss no doubt. It was particularly upsetting considering you got a really good spot start from Figgy that was ultimately wasted. Obviously the Mets need to do a much better job hitting with RISP and clearly this offense hasn't reached it's full potential. That said, and I don't think I am making excuses here, yesterday was also one fo those instances where there was really nothing you could do about a couple of those lost opportunities. I mean Delgado hits a one hopper that almost knocked the pitcher's glove off and Santos lined out to third. Frustrating, but part of the game.

Well said Ravi - I've been trying to make the same argument all week. I really don't see why people have such a difficult time seeing the importance JR and his contributions to the game, the city, and the country. I just don't get it.
