I think once the "newness" of the place wares off a bit people will return their attention to the game. I think it is wise to reserve your judgment until you have been there a few times. I went to 2 games this weekend and I enjoyed both, but the second one really got me excited. The first game it was great, but kind of a weird experience. Once people get comfortable I think the sound will return. I think the first time you go, it's just a bit of culture shock almost when compared to watching a game at Shea. Like I said, I went back yesterday and despite the result of the game, really enjoyed the place and started to get excited about being able to watch games here in the future. As far as the paucity of mets related hsitory, I have to be honest, I really wouldn't have noticed anything amiss if people hadn't been complaining about it. I mean it wasn't as if Shea was some Mets Shrine. Anyway, I hope that this incident with Doc doesn't mean he will be away from the Mets for another 10 years. Obviously the Mets need to do a much better job hitting with RISP and clearly this offense hasn't reached it's full potential.
