I'm glad that I live in a neighborhood where my neighbors watch out for my house, and if something unusual is happening, police are called. The police are always telling us to report any suspicious activity so it can be handled by them. It sounds like this is what happened here. The professor should have calmly explained that he lived there, produced ID to that effect, and the police would have let it be. Instead, he creates a scene and is arrested for his behavior as a consequence of his behavior!!
