Breitbart.tv : George Will On Obama Contraception Mandate: 'This Is What Liberalism Looks Like'

Not this one either. Catholics have taken the "social justice" slogan as endorsement of "progressive" entitlements and welfare. It is long past due that we understand that social justice should be based on free trade and private charity. Where we view free trade and yes profits as a means to serve others. I see my disposable income disappear from my check because of mandates and wonder what good I could do for my family, locally for my Church and people outside of the Church in real need. The "progressives" don't seem to understand (or don't care) as opposed to allowing our resouces to serve a bureacrat and then allowing that same bureacrat to decide how to serve others, far more good is done when we control our income. It is more efficient and will produce better results for people, when we can decide how we value charity. Until Catholics in general realize that, we will continue to see diminishing returns on good works.

Breitbart.tv : Study: Distrust Of Government A Mental Disorder

Yeah. I started watching and first thought was this is sarcasm. But looking into, he is a Maoist. And he is criticizing the "study" I guess politics makes strange bedfellows and all, but he is right in this video in some places. His motivation is probably dubious, to gather unwarranted distrust of the princples of our system of government versus the actions that are actually in conflict with those same princples. But really-A Maoist complaining about this study is like well you know the expression about fighting for peace is like......Really the great leap forward, the cultural revolution.....

Of course it's racist! Look at it! He depicted the lone black president to this point in American history as black....amongst all the past presidents who were white. He should have shown Obama as white.....no that's not right. He should have shown some of the past presidents as black....no then Obama wouldn't be the first black president and then he wouldn't be all hopey and changey.....Look it as racist as calling someone Juan, "Juan" I'm sure of that/////

Breitbart.tv : Matthews: Obama Birth Control Mandate 'Frightening'

At first Matthews shocked me. But as noted in other posts he is Catholic, so it strikes home finally. But I doubt it doesn't even pass the freedom of religion issue with him. There is much more to it than that. From the beginning, I've been saying not only is the government mandating coverage, but also comprehensive coverage some people may not want. And all it will do is drive more money out of people's pockets (if employees don't think they pay for insurance coverage, ask your boss for a raise when his premiums go up on your coverage) to insurance companies.

Breitbart.tv : Maddow's Contraception Fear-Mongering Featured On NBC's 'Meet The Press'

I believe the statement "the way things are supposed to be." is from the Catholic belief that one of the possible consequences of sex is pregnancy. The belief in the Church (which I'm a member) is that artificially preventing the possibility of pregnancy it defines a barrier where an act of love is reduced to sexual gratification. So the couple defines their relationship merely on sexual terms rather than as mutual relationship expressing God's love. Agree or don't that is the Church's position on contraception. As a Catholic with Libertarian leaning, I'm at odds sometimes with religion and politics. But in this case, it is a First Admendment position of freedom of religion. But there is another way to look at it. The "progressives" position is very telling. They believe because a entity provides a service, it has to provide all services that the "progressives" see it as the "greater good" They determine the greater good. The "progressives" are the ones mandating values. While the Church tries to define values, there is no absolute mandate to follow those values.

Creative destruction is bad on one side of equation. A blessing on the other side. Perhaps that is why Hollywood complains so much, SOPA you know. Outdated business models and no new ideas. It does strike me as funny, though unintentional on their part. They use an "The Office" backdrop. Didn't the company in the show struggle to sell paper-the damed information age and paperless business. So then it was bought out. (OK, I admit it....I watch the show)

Watch "The Cartel" Excellent documentary. It breaks down the cost per class room and shows why we spend so much on education without results. The fact is the unions don't represent the students or the teachers. They are about protecting administrative costs. It many cases the teacher of a class room makes $55 plus benefits. But the classroom may take $350k or more to run because of administrative costs. Good teachers could be actually be paid more (based on merit). We know the unions don't represent students, that's a given. But they actually don't represent good teachers either. The teachers' unions protect the administrative overhead through school boards they push to elect.

What a simplistic mind. It was the Industrial Revolution (and its wage labor) that not only made this country an economic powerhouse but also contributed to the end of slavery. The funny thing is at the end Moore opines with paid labor we would just be finishing the transcontinental railroad. It was because of the Industrial Revolution (with its evil wage labor) that we needed a railway system. Also it was completed with wage labor not slave labor. Moore, when he talks, if isn't lying he is saying something stupid.

Big Government : Race Baiting in South Carolina Primary Politics? Just Ask Hillary Clinton

Excellent. I've had the same argument before with people, also. They say that "communism has never been truly tried." Yet why does it always end in totalitarian governments. Very simple. People aren't going to give up private property rights without being forced. And some type of autoritarian government is going to have to do the forcing. But underlying that it is a flawed regressive system. One of the most progressive principles (small p) is the establishment of private property rights. Look at feudal Europe, look at tribalism, mercantilism. But once private property rights was established across all classes, there was real progress.

Breitbart.tv : Dead Man Voting: O'Keefe Exposes Troubling Ballot Policies In New Hampshire

Notice that at 2:35, one of the dead voters had already been checked off. It seems that person already voted, so not only misrepresenting yourself is possible, but someone has beaten O'Keefe's crew by actually voting as this deceased person. Meanwhile over on Little Green Footballs, they are bashing O'Keefe saying he committed voter fraud. From the video, they didn't claim to be these people, simply asked if that person was on their list. They didn't actually vote or take the ballot. The one time some someone asked if the investigator was this person, he said no, and said the person in question is dead. I'd think Charles Johnson would be more concerned about the actual voter fraud that was discovered, than O'Keefe's method of showing not only the ease to commit fraud, the very real probablity that fraud was in fact committed.

Big Hollywood : Netflix vs. Blockbuster: An Argument for Brick and Mortar Rentals in the 21st Century

Agreed. There is a type of cutural event about seeing a big movie with 100 strangers. Robert Pirsig called it "mass hypnosis" in Lila. That all of reality stopped except what was on the big screen. When watching Empire Strikes Back, something broke my focus breifly and even though I was very young I remember looking around and thinking everyone was focused on the same thing. Years later, when I read that about "mass hypnosis" I understood what he meant. Plus there is a built in urgency that requires your attention. You have to be there on time, you have to pay attention drawing you in. With home video, whether on DVD or streaming, you can pause or rewind taking you out of the moment. I still have my Netflix account and use it watch movies and old shows but when I hear about a movie with a good deal of positive buzz, it is a completely different experience to get an overpriced ticket, big tub of popcorn and plain M & M's and see it larger than life than watching at home no matter how much I try to recreate the experience.

Big Hollywood : Michael Moore Stops Lying Long Enough to Call Obama Wall Street's Man

Yet another interview where the question isn't asked. "Mr Moore how do you finance your umm, "documentaries" if you call them that?" He likes corporatism when he is the beneficiary. Of course, he will try to give the same corporatism the moniker "captialism" when he doesn't benefit to tell us how evil capitalism is. I generally don't like the 99% vs 1% crap. It sets up this false dichotomy where the wealthy are the only benefactors of labor markets and everyone else is exploited. But if he is looking for the "1%" that exploits, he needs to look in the mirror. He makes as much serious effort to look at people that exploit as when he presents facts in his "documentaries."

Big Government : Hot For Teacher-Criminalizing Sex Between Legal Adults?! Nanny of the Month (November 2011)

Nope didn't miss a thing. I agree it's a DUI, that's why I said it is illegal. But it was an analogy. Your argument is just like this. Sex between consenting adults should be a felony because one might use it from a position of authority. Maybe, could be. So ANY sex should be a felony where it involves the POSSIBILITY that one party uses from a position of authority. Sex between co-workers should be a felony also? But you wrote Reason thinks it's "acceptable" They didn't make that claim. Just it shouldn't be a felony. Are we going to criminalize everything that is not "acceptable" Just like the tee-totaler thinks I shouldn't drink those beers. Maybe they are right. But it doesn't need to be a felony. But what we agree on is I shouldn't drink those beer and then drive. That should be and is illegal. Then the law is punishing the crime. That bill punishes people because of the possibilty of something that might be wrong. Whether it was wrong or not.
