Nerdlets : Type in Polytonic Greek in Linux

Hey David, Congrats on the move! And on everything else that's been going on for you! The classes you are teaching look interesting. Poythress is the go to guy when it comes to this kind of stuff. I used his sight for getting my keyboard perfected: http://www.frame-poythress.org/poythress_articles... . He has a custom keyboard designed for linux, complete with instructions about what to do with it. To be honest I haven't messed with this in awhile, since once it's set up you can back it all up and never worry about it again. Try one of those out, and if you run into problems, I'd love to know what they are and am happy to try and help! Good luck!

Nerdlets : A Guide to Using Zotero in Biblical Studies: Collecting, Annotating and Citing Bibliographic Data

Phil, glad the guide was useful. My understanding is that Zotero does import information from Nota Bene. I've never done this, so I don't know if there are any problems associated with it. Give it a try (Zotero is free, after all), but keep a backup of your Nota Bene database just in case. As for your second question, Zotero currently relies on you manually capitalizing your data. I'm not sure if this will change in the future (there is talk of making Zotero more hierarchically/object structured than it currently is), but for now you have to make sure it's right.

I don't know anything about this, to be honest. What makes HP a more ethical manufacturer than the rest? This could be tricky to trace since companies that build computers don't make the actual parts inside them.

Nerdlets : Run Bibleworks 7 or 8 with Wine in Linux (Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10)

Another thought: you can use a CHM viewer to view the files independently of Biblelworks. Here's a post on that: http://ubuntuguide.net/how-to-view-chm-files-in-u... The files are located in your Bibleworks folder under the "Databases" subfolder.

I don't get the crash when I open the file, but it also doesn't show me any text, just an empty CHM window. It does crash if I try to close the window. I really hate that BW still uses CHM files! This isn't really a fix, but all the materials that BW provides through CHM files are, to my knowledge, available through the web as PDFs or other types of documents. Matthew Henry, for example, is available through Google Books, which you can download as a PDF or as a eBook. I'll look into the CHM bug, though. I'll post back here if I find anything.

Well, Bibleworks is designed to work with Internet Explorer to access updates. Why? I have no idea. You can "trick" Bibleworks into thinking you have IE installed by download winetricks and using the script to install fakeie. This is described in step 2 above. Good luck!

The one thing I don't understand is how you don't have a bw700.ini file. That's not possible. Look in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Bibleworks

Nerdlets : Getting Things Done (In Prayer)

Try toodledo, which has a great iPhone app and a number of other ways to connect. The web interface is pretty ugly, but it is more feature-full than RTM. I used to use toodledo but it has no android app, so I'm back to rtm. Also, as a MAC guy, you have access to Things, which I hear is pretty awesome.

Zotero has not been publishing release notes for incremental releases as far as I can tell. Would love them if someone knows where they are. They information in the post is a combination of the plugin page (linked above), forum conversations, and and my own experiences.

Yeah some bad spam.
