dreamloom | a modern cahiers du television: deep thoughts on a shallow medium. : Hawthorne

You're welcome! I agree with you about pilot episodes. Sometimes they just cram what they can in to hook you. It really does take several shows to really see if it's worth becoming a regular. Come back to tell me what you thought when you see it.

dreamloom | a modern cahiers du television: deep thoughts on a shallow medium. : The United States of Tara

Yes - the left handed comment made me laugh too. As though it was the weirdest thing about "Buck" they could think of. When I first heard of the concept, I got a little nervous. How can you add humor to a very serious mental disorder w/out making fun of someone? But, I really believe they pulled it off and did a great job.

I've considered that myself - at least the part of Izzie having a tumor. I've also considered the surgery not going so successfully.... Karev is so complicated & i've met many men like him. I like that as well.

That's good to hear. I have the feeling NBC is a little trigger happy. & ABC seems to be as well. Not happy with them right now.

Yeah - it seems like they don't really have much balance.... was there pressure put on them by advertisers that you know of or just that they can't seem to make up their minds?

& now that Dr. Hahn is gone (which really upset me as well, I liked the story line) - I wonder if that was due to people's uncomfortableness w/ a lesbian relationship being so explicit or if they really thought the two didn't have chemistry. I just wonder...

I know. & I'm pretty clear (for those who spend a little time talking to me) how I feel about those (or any) prejudices. I know you know that I am very much against prejudice for sexual orientation. But that doesn't take away from his talent as an actor. It might detour his career and the consequences might impact how far he goes & how long he lasts - but I do have to show respect for talent when I see it. I just wonder if his removal was an overreaction or due to his inability to keep mouth shut & play nice.

Yes - I wondered if he was hard to work with but he is a good actor & it hasn't felt the same. I didn't know if it had to do with writers strike or was a combo of many things. The latter- I suspect, is closer to the truth. But I do miss seeing him on the show.

I've heard that we aren't alone. One guy on twitter told me he had felt the same way. The previews held no interest for him. For some reason, I never watched Samantha Who? even though I always meant to.

For any who come by later.... Just to clarify, I was being playful with the Lizzie bit. Of course I know it's Izzie. Just wanted to state this before anyone Posts this: "Lizzie?!? It's Izzie." I was trying on humor to deflect an angry reader's correction. I'm just a lowly average audience member excited about my favorite tv shows....

LOL. Hillarious. As far as Marc with a 'c', I would have no idea. And it is crazy I wouldn't have known that. I pledge from now on upon the stack of TV Guides littering my closet that I will verify each and every name, common or no, because I must never, ever make such an insidious error as this again. And you got me with Phil. I have no idea in hell what was wrong with me except I must have been so torn and delirious and drunken over the most awful episode of Grey's Anatomy (or is it Gray with an 'a') that followed 'Ugly Betty ' I have ever seen. To wit, I have decided I will most likely stop watching it so I don't have to be tortured with a Lizzy (or is it Lizzie) that went from absolutely sane to sleeping with dead guys in 1 episode and disappearing lesbians. When I want to see that sort of stuff, I watch reruns of Buffy. The only saving moment of that entire show was the thought of interns practicing surgical techniques on themselves. But if, as my Sensei asks, a duel is required - my preference would be wooden spoons. I suppose, however, the weapon would be of your choosing. :)

Extreme potential. Yes, the idea of it all was a bit 'out there', but the actors were incredible. I was very upset when it was pulled. I was very much interested in finding out how the brothers' relationship would develop. I'm just happy the lead now has a part in Grey's.

Ack! I really hope this show is picked up. It's one of my favorite's this season. I love the whimsical feel of it, the beautiful eye-candy it brings. I don't know enough about comics to understand whether or not DC is a good thing or not. I can at least say it is one comic book I would pick up and read. There's nothing more I hate than getting attached to a show and seeing it end before it is really given a chance to develop.

Now that I think about it, one show I have NEVER understood the fuss about was Scrubs. I watched 15 minutes one night and thought it was Saved By The Bell but set at a hospital. Now, I've got a sense of humor but I thought it was just strange. Maybe I just didn't give it a chance...

One show I've been pleasantly surprised by was 30 Rock. I know it got raves, but just never felt compelled to watch. But after having had one epi recorded, I finally watched it yesterday. Pretty quirky. I liked it.
