love this. since harper turned 2 i have felt completely lost in the discipline department. which is no good place to be with a raging 2 year old. not good at all. the best outcome i've had is from putting myself in her shoes - exactly like you said, they aren't "being bad". them inconveniencing us is not cause for a time out. the patience! we must haz it! which i will admit is really fucking hard to do when the tiny dictator is pressing the button. over and over. and over.

sometimes (ok most times) i feel like you and i are the exact same person with the same brain. i struggle with this all the time. at the playground for instance, i feel like i'm literally the only mom who cares if their kid nose dives off a 7 foot toy. i see moms chit chatting whilst their kids run around like monkeys and i wonder if i'm an uptight asshole for following my toddler around to help her do things if she needs it or catch her if she tries to attempt the slide herself.

if we go to other people's homes and she wanders off, the person will always say "she's fine!" as i get up to follow her. um, i get that YOU don't mind if she touches your stuff or the whatnot, but yeah *I* care if she finds your cabinet of cleaning supplies. toddlby's? super sleuth. they find shit you didn't even know existed in your carpet. she won't be fine. well maybe she will, but i'd rather not wait to find out. even if i did sit here and chat it up with you while she wanders your halls, i'm not gonna be hearing anything you're saying - imma be listening for the impending doom of her dive bombing off your guest bed.

i say keep doing what makes you comfortable. the Jude man is clearly an adorably happy little man. :)

that is the GREATEST thing i've ever seen! He has got MOVES. Harper kept yelling "DANCING!". hells yes he IS dancing. i'm going to watch it again.
