LetsMoveToTheMoon : How I Memorize Stuff

The second one has definitely been helpful to me in the past when learning languages, as well. When first learning Greek, for instance, it was really easy to simply memorize the translation of Greek words into English without ever trying to recall the Greek translation of English words (particularly in that there are very few times that you'd ever need to translate something from English into a dead language, so it's not totally a necessary skill). I realized that by translating back from English into Greek, I was much more apt to recall the information at a much later time because, as you said, it became working knowledge rather than a cheap fact. I wonder which is easier, memorizing long lists of facts (i.e., vocabulary) or a long passage (like Scripture). Interesting...

TechCrunch : Exclusive Video And Screenshots Of Digg Version 4

I think the key to this whole thing may be the auto-import via RSS feature. If I'm a content producer, I'm going to want to set that up so that all my content will go to my followers and potentially be shared on a larger scale. For about 5 minutes of work, there's potential that any one of my future articles could be shared on a massive scale. It's hard to beat that. My question is, will that sort of feature cause Digg to be polluted with spammy 1-digg stories that are added automatically? Also, if I only want to follow 3 people, will more of the "Top News" be added to my stream? I'd hate to see 1 story a week on my stream because my friends are inactive and I don't want to follow anyone else. I'm just trying to think of all the angles of how this will work. Looks great, though!

LetsMoveToTheMoon : 5 Free, Semi-Obscure Mac Applications

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Handbrake. (For the record, I have only ever used it for legal activities. Just want to be clear. ;-)) I've never used Appzapper, but I hear it's good. I think it's probably a good idea to invest in it, though. Thanks for the links!

It definitely looks sharp. As long as it's fast, I really see myself using it as an extension of the desktop application. It'd definitely be nice for on-the-go use, although the iPhone app already does a pretty good job.

tylerstanton.com : Pet Peeves XIV

I felt like I needed to affirm the HGTV-biceps qualm. I mean, seriously, it's totally unacceptable. Many of the hosts and all of the carpenters have biceps that are extraordinarily large, and it's so distracting that I find myself looking away. Honestly, part of me wonders if these people are even hosts/carpenters, or if they're just better-looking stand-ins for the guys that are really doing the work. There's no way that they could possibly have the time to do all of that designing/carpentry and still find 15 hours a day to work out.

LetsMoveToTheMoon : Writing Like Picasso: Know the Rules, Then Break Them

For sure it's a learning process. I like to learn to write well in small doses. For instance, with that list of rhetorical devices that I linked to above, it's fun for me to read one of those a day. That way there's not too much pressure and you still get the goods.

LetsMoveToTheMoon : Is Your Bible as Old-Fashioned as Mine?

That's a cool perspective...I just like to note things that really stand out to me. I really do like the idea of being able to attach an extended comment to a passage (sorta like a personal commentary, my own thoughts on a passage), and I really like the way e-Sword does this, but like I said in the post I'm just scared that none of these things are permanent enough. In five years, will e-Sword even work on the computer that I own? Is YouVersion going to be maintained forever? Certainly the argument could be made that my house could burn down and my Bible with it, but judging by the short life of some older software in comparison to the long life of my grandparents' Bibles, I'll take my chances. I guess the notes thing is the biggest point of contention for me.
