Political Grind : President Must Uphold Constitution: Not Alter It

"Think" with your heart this time.

As far as Gore--although he won the popular vote--my question has always been--why didn't he win by more than the figure on the books?

Watching the Obama-Clinton match-up reminds me 2000....ask yourself--why isn't Hillary blowing Obama out of the water? Why--when she does win--isn't she winning by more?

Much much more.

What are Democratic voices telling us? Check out my post today on Smashed Frog and really listen to the comments posted over at Huffington, by a person who views Hillary as the perfect candidate--for all the wrong reasons.

http://smashedfrog.blogspot.com/2008/03/american-...

Political Grind : Cleavage vs. Climate

Under reporting of an issue as important as those you have listed may be a "sad reality", only if we continue to allow the press to choose the issues of importance. As far as the practice of obfusaction, Ms. Clinton has found her very specific, very documented comments regarding many issues, uh let's say--kicking her in the old NAFTA--and then chooses to lie about it. Now, that's sad.

Political Grind : The Daily Kos - The Voice of Progressive Reason??

Hey now....I--as a lefty, am driven by my emotional take on current affairs...that being said, I too once bought the day pass to ride the Koz-mobile on a regular basis.

What I soon learned is this is a fairly closeted crowd, more willing to troll an essay than expand upon the same. In my opinion, Kos jumped the shark some time back, but I believe the current group of regulars has had something to do with the ultimate sell-out.

But-there's always a but--the interview of Markos and MYDD compadre Jerome Armstrong by Tim Russert--about a year and half ago--caught my attention and drove me to the keyboard. If the Kos can be credited with the jump start of blogging souls like myself, then the site has proven worth while.

Interesting comment found on Talk to Me--a progressive blog--regarding Hillary Clinton.

***

What I am is one of the 53 million women who head their households....I made a choice a while back to assume the responsibility of getting where I am today because of one person--and that would be myself.

Hillary Clinton--who makes the claim--can't make that same claim. She hasn't lived that life. Women--single or otherwise-- just don't respect that. She can't use the feminist approach with us, having never proved herself as someone other than who she is--she talks the talks, but doesn't walk the walk.

(...)

I believe that this race is crucial to this country. For Hillary, it's most likely the last shot of women in her age group--those who deemed themselves feminists but changed the definition along the way to suit their needs--to get one of their own in the White House.
(And a lot of men hate that single point).

For me, it's about change and leading this country past polarization.

I'm not certain faith in one's country can be measured by scientific method. What my gut instinct tells me--voters see Hillary as more of the same--especially with Bill standing by her side.
lot of men hate that single point).

Political Grind : The Next President of the United States will be ...
"Obama is (half) black..."

That observation is necessary...why?

Don't worry your silly head about Hillary--I doubt very much she will be the nominee. I believe Iowans--who vote for the nominee they feel is most electable--will put Edwards
in the driver's seat.

As for the Republican nominee--keep your eye on Huckabee...I think he is the crossover candidate.

Political Grind : The Democratic Dream Team

I agree with Raoul. Don't throw in the towel. As a Dem, I will not support a Clinton candidacy and very much believe the Party will step in and make some sort of back door deal--too much too lose on this race. She has way too much baggage. My personal take--for a female raised on the feminista b.s. Clinton and her White Gloved Rebels professed back in her day, she was quick to "refresh" the philosophy of feminism--suddenly all about the personal choice of women--when hubby got outed from his own closet. Meanwhile, the rest of us females raised in the '60s and '70s are living examples of true (albeit very tired) independent women who Hillary now expects us to support her to the White House as the first female Prez? I think not. This race is about change for the better, not about a bunch of sixty-something women's last chance to put a woman of their own age group into the history books. Do NOT let the media pick our candidates--take a look at Time, which just hit the racks 11/19. Joe Klein's article on H.C. says everything no Dem dares to say. Feel free to stop by the Frog to read more about my unpopular insights. As for Obama as a VP on her ticket, that would push me right off the edge. That man--as well as many Dem contenders--are ten times the proven leader as those who have manufactured a tired shadow of old school politics.

Political Grind : Top 5 Worst Things About Ron Paul (Or, Top 5 Reasons I Hate Ron Paul)

I also have mixed feelings about Ron Paul's views but see with crystal clear clarity why citizens are clamoring for another option. As Anon mentioned, "I seriously have a hard time discerning between the major Demo. candidates and the major Repub. ones." I hear that comment A LOT, along with "what's the difference", "nothing will change", "the Dems have done nothing" and "I'm voting straight anti-incumbent". I think candidates like Ron Paul who profess to want to wipe the slate clean and start over have locked in to an undercurrent of mindset unrest, linked to the effect of big government on us personally--our homes, families and wallets, not to mention the effect the incredible number of punitive laws on the books at thestate and local level --many linked to federal funding for law enforcement--have on regular everyday citizens. Just yesterday, I spoke with two young men in their twenties--one whose Navy career had pretty much been ruined because of illegal, albeit consensual sex and a motor cross biker--whose career takes him all over the world--grounded temporarily by a DUI. Our present day laws have reached far past educative to snag the rest of one's life punitively--and people are fed up with that sort of government intrusion in their lives. We have got to figure out a way for us to be heard....and for many people, Ron Paul is listening. I believe we will see a viable third party in our lifetimes simply because people are fed up with "more of the same" politics.
