Hmm, that hasn't been my experience. I went to one of these events before and nobody made them go through any prep process. They do offer these services (not near that price as far as I understand things) and they're not required to pitch at CrowdPitch. The bottom line is that CrowdPitch will be free to the presenting companies, and that's a good thing vs them charging. I'll see if I can get them to comment as I don't have much direct experience with them.

i've been to one of these before, and it was pretty well attended. most attendees were not investors. some investors were there, however. sure, for $125 it's probably reasonable exposure to a somewhat random audience.

interesting. i know that too, but nationally it's almost as if it doesn't matter. it's an identity that's known nationally.

i'd say it's the local region - basically denver+boulder and anything close with stuff going on. ultimately, one that evolves \"our state, and primarily those regions\" is probably ideal. that my opinion.

Colorado Startups : What if CU's Engineering Department was more focused on entrepreneurship?

That's a completely unrelated topic. Addressing your sarcasm, it's not an unusual paradigm at all. In fact, it's how I built both of my companies that were successful. As an angel investor, I'm a big fan of bootstrappers and often invest in them.

Texas Startup Blog : Crowdsourced Logo Smackdown!

Adam - if you review the feedback given it was almost all very basic - i.e. I like this one, or I didn't like this one. None of my feedback, except for the design we selected, was instructive. The biggest problem with 99designs was the failure of the designers to review the instructions for the icons. The Android design criteria is very detailed and very clear. For some reason the Crowdspring guys seemed to follow the instructions more frequently. The two blanks were part of the screen grab. There was no editing. No great conspiracy. At the end of the day Crowdspring provided a better experience all around.
