What you fail to realize is that the great thing about sports is you start the season 0-0. There are plenty of teams in the last 100 years that everyone was saying was "No way, this team sucks, this team is too young blah blah blah" that have gone and shocked the world and won the world series. The last of which was the 2010 giants. Heck, the cards were counted out last season and look at what they did (although in personal opinion they were a more "ready" team). With that said, do I think the mariners will win the world series? that doesn't matter. What matters is until it happens don't banish them to the basement. Really? ummmm 4-6 with a 4.40 ERA and .234 opponents' batting average on the road. And those stats don't include yankee stadium which hes never pitched in. Not to mention is flyball ratio. a lot of those will go out in hitter friendly yankee stadium. I want the guy to succeed, I do. But there are a lot of YANKEE fans that think they won this trade. hardly. There a pitcher and a position player. two very different positions. If you TRY to compare them, they would be in the same stage of there careers. just because pineda has played one season (and a short second half due to them shutting him down, cuz they don't wanna "overwork him" he has known elbow problems) does not make him king of all. he has as much if not more risk of failure then montero. period.
