Offbeat Mama : This week's DILF, Mr. James Hearn

We are an offbeat community. I don't find "DILF" in the least bit offensive. I think it's actually pretty snarky and funny! Long live the DILF feature!

Offbeat Bride : How to DIY your own vinyl record bowl

Candies are a great idea! Also, you could put little favors in there: custom stick-on tattoos, wooden coins with the name and date, magnets, children's toys for the kids in attendance etc... the possibilities are endless.

No fear guys... this Jethro Tull record isn't valuable. In fact it is scratched and slightly warped. I'm a record collector, so I get it :)

Oh good point Miss Strange! Poly resin would be perfect! Yeah the plastic wrap works wonders. And I think some butcher paper set in the bowl (kind of like they do with chips at restaurants) would be super cute and slightly rustic as well.

After our one night of chip bowl usage, we saw no greasy leavings or anything of the sort in the bottom of the bowl. We currently use our record bowl as a keychain / gum / wallet catch-all near our entryway! They're great for that. They could also be mounted on the wall for a pretty cool wall display.

Well, you can either mod podge the label to protect it OR as noted in the post, line it with plastic wrap, paper or another bowl first if you're concerned about the food safety aspect of it. You can also use a clear spray shellac to protect the label.
