I know what you mean, it would help if we knew what type of chloride they used (i.e. whether it was sodium chloride, potassium chloride or one of the others). I'm also guessing that they probably used sodium chloride since it will be the cheaper option. I believe the engineer quoted in the article was also upset that they used half of the amount allocated for that year in just a few days.
