Oh yay I'm first for the Mrs Acuff! Etsy.com love it. I love Beth Moore's wild (yet true) stories - that typically gut me and stay with me. I still recall the story of combing the old man's air in the airport...it pops into my head over and over again. That story is the "Best of Beth".

Any youth pastor that had to put #15 in their list is...probably not going to tell you - because it's just straight up wrong. And I love how our Youth Pastor is always telling people how HOTT his wife is, even in big church. I am adding these additional points, all of which our Youth Pastors have scored 115. Has been allowed to give a message in big church +2, when the senior pastor is in town +5, senior pastor listens to message +4, used a rope to swing out from the stage into the audience +5 116. Called the senior pastor "Babe" in big church +150 117. Lit his hand on fire for a demonstration +13, was actually hurt in the process -12

Awana - good times. If it wasn't for Awana and summer camp scholarship programs I would have never memorized verses; to which I remember few. I clearly recall cramming like mad for my scripture recitals in the car on the way to Awana – I really wanted to earn those points, patches and pins! In the last two years I've actually picked up the habit again. It's been a good thing and without the cramming. But now I don't worry about getting it word for word perfect, especially with all the alphabet soup of versions flying around (NIV, NLT, NKJ, ASB, MSG, etc...) No one will know if I paraphrase or mix a little NIV and MSG together...right?? (thinking some fundie has just assured themselves I’m not heaven bound for this faux pas…)

Ah I love those differences "found" and "caught" - I could go on-and-on about my childhood religion of God as Big Brother with spy cameras everywhere and all the guilt that got loaded on us growing up from those who actually meant well... Great post Jon. Sometimes serious Wednesdays are just perfect for my soul. PS: and on a completely unrelated note - I got my SCL book yesterday. I was really needing a new bathroom reader - so excited!!! (T.M.I ???)

Oh yeah! I dated the Worship Pastor's kid. Back then we had Worship Pastors, not leaders... two entirely different beasts. A Worship Pastor directs a choir and does the whole Messiah / Hallelujah chorus at Christmas time - the other, the new and improved Worship Leader, does stuff from Trans Siberian Orchestra at the Christmas Eve service. Anyways the PK's name was Curt. I'm not sure if I wrecked him or he wrecked me (and I’m a DK... sorry we have rights to our titles). At any rate we had a great time wrecking each other and getting into lots of trouble. Plus we always knew where to find Grape Juice and Ritz crackers - FOR FREE. What good times we had!

I have been a big fan of this website/blog. In fact in one of my future posts (for my happy 1 year birthday blog) I will be mentioning SCL a lot... Anyways I love all the Metrosexual Worship Leader quizzes with points and such. But what I love a bit more are the active commenters on this site - it's almost made this like CHURCH. And with believers doing something good like the Kindergarten... doesn't that really look like church. Jon, thanks for taking a risk. God is a kick in the pants at His way of reaching others!
