I actually saw "Wings" on the big screen a few years ago. A couple of things stood out: 1. In what I remember as a two-minute cameo Gary Cooper absolutely steals the whole movie. 2. The last kiss of the movie is doubly heart-breaking as it reminds you of a time when American was so blissfully innocent. If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about.

This is an important story and I'm glad BG is covering it, but there's even more here than meets the eye. Richard Cordray was one of the many state and federal officials whose influence resulted in the national "foreclosure freeze" of 2010-11. An untold number—perhaps millions—of foreclosed properties, even those in escrow, were indefinitely suspended because there was supposedly something wrong with the foreclosure documents—a problem related to the so-called "robo-signing" nontroversy. I was one of many victims of this. I had made a downpayment and financed a mortgage on a foreclosed property and was about to sign the dotted line when this foreclosure freeze came down. It shut me out of the home I had paid for for seven and a half months, costing me untold thousands of dollars because I had to keep constantly refinancing my loan as rates changed, getting new appraisals, etc. In the end, of course, there was nothing wrong with the documents at all (Duh!) and our generous, benevolent government finally allowed me to take possession of my property. Meanwhile, the recovery of the real estate market was delayed by more than half a year because it cannot possibly recover until all these foreclosed homes are finally sold and taken out of inventory. IMO, this is the unreported scandal of 2010-11, and Richard Cordray's fingerprints are all over it.
