I have often been disturbed what I have noticed on this site as slight misreadings of various political and theological news items. However, this is over the line. First, your headline implies that you are open-minded on the subject, but your text flatly proves you have made up your mind. In your view, Fox is "deceptive." I disagree. The speech, particularly the "SOB" part, demonstrates the Obama campaign's inability to discern the character of those they allow to speak for them, as well as the pure contempt that Union bosses and liberal democrats hold for the Tea Party.

I have previously been slow to accept the claims of this website, and have not believed it until I saw at least one other source with the same information. At this point, I'm not sure I can grant it any credibility at all.

It should be kept in mind, however, that she has to be a declared candidate by 10/31 in order to be on the FL ballot. That might be important.

I would like to see Sarah Palin enter the race via Facebook, Twitter, and a simultaneous interview on radio (with those guys in Alaska she promised to tell; don't recall their names) and Greta Van Susteren on tv, on Thursday night, before Labor Day. That gives enough time for the Palinistas to get to Iowa en masse, and not enough time for the LSM to rip her apart. (They can talk about her nonstop, but it's a holiday weekend and few will pay attention to them. Most people will learn she is running, then stop watching the news to go have a holiday.)

I would also like to see several candidates drop out before the next debate (I love them, but we need a clearer stage--McCotter, Cain, Santorum, Gingrich. Also get rid of Huntsman and Johnson.) I would like to see the field Palin, Bachman, Perry, and Romney. I know, I know--Ron Paul won't drop out until next year. I think Palin can beat anybody, but it's a better debate when everybody gets some time to talk.

Also, could we request no more stupid this/that questions, or other "human interest" nonsese? "Governer Palin, are you a dog person or a cat person?" "Well, really, I'm more of a Moose person!" Engaging, but stupid. I hope they stop doing it.

If you watch the evidentiary tape, you will see that the story she tells is about how she went out with a Wiccan. They went to a movie, then--unbeknownst to her--they had a picnic on an altar. Watch the tape. It's a silly story about something that happened when she was young. It's not clear what point she was making--having watched PI quite a bit, I imagine it was probably in response to Maher's standard claim that [blank--insert something Christians believe in here] isn't real. In fact, it was probably a Halloween discussion, given that it was the end of October. She didn't "worship the devil"--she dabbled in witchcraft, as most young girls did during the 70s and 80s, especially if they went to any kind of college. When I was in high school, every girl had a Ouija board, many read Tarot cards, and approving of or even "dabbling in" witchcraft was practically a required rite of passage into junior feminism. Remember, in the late 70s and early to mid 80s, the occult was everywhere. So what? I hope Maher releases every piece of PI tape he has with her. Then everyone will see how strong in the faith she has been for a long time. She was on the show as the representative of the Savior's Alliance for Lifting the Truth (SALT), so anything he has will only be scary to liberals and anti-Christians--not voters. Her position as SALT director wasn't undermined by those statements--it was reinforced by them. During that period, I remember her saying "I know what it's like to live without principle." What's next? The breathless revelation that Star Parker had abortions and was on welfare, revealed by someone who (gasp) read one of her many books about it?

Thank God somebody said it.

Walter Cronkite was a fraud, a Communist masquerading as the voice of Objectivity. After he retired, he let it all hang out, but by then nobody cared that the truth had been tortured to death under his reign.

I'm surprised the MSM hasn't requested a state funeral for him. Or at least a gigantic stadium memorial service. I'm sure Magic and Kobe can think of something to say about him. Did Uncle Walter eat fried chicken? (that was the greatest moment of Magic Johnson's life. Uh huh.)

"Armstrong did an amazing thing, but he did it a loooong time ago. He is certainly a hero but historical figures/acts don't become part of people's daily lives in the way that music does.."

This may be the saddest commentary on America I've ever seen. America may not survive this generation--and maybe we no longer deserve to.

Are you serious? The point of comparison is MOON WALK. It's a play on words. The article is a musing on cultural priorities, based on the convenient linguistic similarity between "walking on the moon" and "moon walking." It's clever. Apparently too clever for the room.

Except that Leonardo Da Vinci was an inventor, not an entertainer.

Oh, please.

Quite clearly I did NOT watch the documentary.  I merely rested the channel there for a moment.  I would not subject my seven year old to the sight of Michael in the condition he was in at that time.

It does not matter to me whether he was found guilty of the legal definition of child molesting.  I do not think it is appropriate to lionize someone who clearly lived outside the boundaries of moral behavior, whether we are talking about his sleeping with other peoples' children or taking illegal drugs, Michael Jackson was a personal mess.

And, by the way, I like a lot of his music.  And I was watching when he first did the moonwalk, and it was breathtaking.  But he just invented it.  Others can now do it.  It's inventive, but not magnificent.  Honor him in a musical hall of fame.  But not in the US Congress or as an entity worthy of global mourning.

As to the question of the President's citizenship, I've been looking into this quite a bit.  It would appear that the only way he could not be a citizen would be for him to be born in Kenya AND for the Supreme Court to rule that a "natural-born" citizen must be born IN the US to TWO US citizens.  That, or it might be possible to rule him out if his mother renounced his US citizenship on his behalf (which I'm not sure is legally possible) when she married Lolo Soetoro and moved to Indonesia.  He was listed in school in Indonesia as an Indonesian citizen, but I'm not sure that anyone can make him one on his behalf.

If he was born in Hawaii, he's a US citizen.  If he was born in Kenya and you only need one American parent, he's a US citizen.

The only way to work it is if the Supreme Court decides as I have said that "natural-born" requires BOTH parents to be citizens if one is born on foreign soil.  That, as a rule, would make sense to me (we don't want foreign women marrying American soldiers just to make their children citizens, after all), but I have been unable to find out the legal answer to this question.

Thanks for the comment,

This is the difference between being an objective observer and being a blind follower:

Compare "I do not think Michael Jackson was a truly great artist and I don't care who knows it " to
"He was also the best entertainer ever, wheiter you agree or not."

Notice that the objective observer acknowledges his position as an opinion ("I do not think that...") and asserts that he is unperturbed by the opposition of others ("I don't care who knows it.")

The slavish acolyte, however, asserts his opinion as unassailable fact ("He was...") and is not at all unperturbed by the opposition; indeed, he is instead outraged by it and assigns it no reality. The objective opinion stands alone as opinion, but the brainwashed assertion stands against all other opinion and masquerades as fact.

Unless the artistry of Michael Jackson is being elevated to a theological argument, the use of the phrase "whether you agree or not" with an evaluative term ("best") should be avoided in the service of rational discourse.

But to know where I'm coming from, I laughed out loud when Queen Latifah said, "Michael was beautiful," because we had happened upon the Martin Bashir special the night before, and when the channel changed and the visage of Michael appeared on screen, my 7-year old literally screamed in terror. Not beautiful--scary and freakish.
