Midnight Update : Update#61 Of course I'd take the Autobot Options Pack

Yes, I've enjoyed the allure of iPhone while waiting until I felt like it ticked all the boxes I need... while staying open to other platforms delivering on my needs better than it could. Now iPhone does what I need better than anything else. I'm a Mac user for day-to-day and production purposes.

Midnight Update : Update#43: New fibre lands in Australia

Oh, how boring! Well, there's no sharks in there either, nor mutated sea bass. So I guess it's not a great evil underground lair in general.

Midnight Update : Update#32: Non-'freedom' keys against the mandatory Internet filter

All sorts of theories around, and one is that K Rudd is pushing the agenda and Conroy has his neck out. The Senator has started to look pretty uncomfortable at debates (which are very rare) so there are many wondering how keen he would be to leave the whole thing behind. He's not a bad politician in general, but on this battle he's really out there and aligned deeply with the most conservative elements of society. Some good analysis over here plus a lot more insight there at Stilgherrian's blog on whether there is real motivation to keep pushing this, and if so where it might be coming from.

The Warne Account : Was Channel 7 hacked by Jesus?

What patent bullshit from Channel 7! I hate the fact this kind of 'journalism' let's them say something that is obvious rubbish and not get called on it. Why would the journalist not say "It's clearly not the line you're suggesting it is. Do you have a better answer?" They've even eaten 7's crap and regurgitated it as fact in the standfirst. But ask the writer and they'll call this good reporting, because they're just stating what the people involved said...

Midnight Update : Update#27: Favourite books in media / communications theory

Loved Barthes, and Benjamin's "Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction". That's a great piece for insights into the nature of 'aura' in art now that everything can be copied infinitely and instantly. And yeah, both Lefebvre and Rushkoff touch on similar issues of how different cultural attitudes respond to public space in very different ways. Thanks for your thoughts.
