It's not too hard, actually. If you can grab your ics file from Google Calendar and drop it into that validator, that's the place to start. It'll start telling you where things aren't closed right. Then, in any text editor (TextEdit for the Mac will work), you can add the missing element in, which will usually look like </something>, where you're replacing the something with the element that the validator says you are missing.

It is not a must have yet. It will be. When they release the new OS this fall, it'll be closer. I'm guessing iPad 2.0 will basically kill off the low end notebook. Where it really shines is for non-computer users. It's the ultimate "get my computer-phobic dad a computer" tool.
