Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: Why We Love Denzel, Streaming Advances...Again, More Wolverine

Entirely off topic: Blue Bloods is a great TV show that had an amazing episode last Friday. The portrayal of the marriage of Danny & Linda and their son's gun fears was remarkably well-done. And Selleck was awesome in the 9/11 story line!

Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: Box Office Analysis, America Doesn't Care About Sundance and '30 Rock' Day 2

RE John Wayne movies - I haven't seen the non-Western. The other 4 are ones I grew up watching with my dad. I had a friend in college whose younger brother was named Jake because of "Big Jake". Maybe the people I know in Texas are just more Wayne-enlightened.

Big Hollywood : 'Real Steel' Blu-ray Review: Amusing Albeit Familiar Plot Wrapped Around Some Great Robot Action

It was a fun, likeable movie. I like Jackman anyway, and he did a good job of being not likeable - Charlie is rather awful. The development of the relationship between father and son redeems them both... And the robots were pretty cool!

but I don't see her as a true sociopath. she knew and she felt - she just had greater priorities. and dying, even by her own hand, instead of being brought low by going to jail seems in character. I think that if she knew that Raylan was going to kill her, she wouldn't have killed herself. But by that point, it wasn't going to happen that way.

I wonder if the writers would have killed off Mags if they had known that they'd get a 3rd season after all? Although it was the perfect ending for the story arc. And I didn't mind the Wynonna story; it was more conflict for Raylan - which direction to go, who to protect, being changed vs being true... I love Boyd. He's complex, bizarre, amazing, scary, and interesting.

Big Hollywood : 'Dolphin Tale' Blu-ray Review: Kids Might Like It, Parents Beware

I really enjoyed this movie! It was sweet without being saccharine. And I was enormously grateful it didn't turn into a romance between Harry & Ashley - THAT would have been predictable! It wasn't fantastical-amazing, but it was enjoyable. (and the "bad guy" wasn't so bad. the antagonists were mostly within - within the boy, within the mom, within the injured vet - and then trying to figure out how to do something that hadn't been done before.) (and I haven't looked it up, but since it was based on a true story, perhaps there was a land developer threatening the clinic/aquarium - that would not qualify as propaganda, but as "life happens".)

Big Hollywood : Daily Call Sheet: Big Media In Trouble, 'Tintin' Reviews, Adam Sandler's Movies Ranked

I adore NCIS. There are the occasional lefty moments, But I figure that seeing as it IS written by H'wood, then the fact that the positives outnumber the negatives is rather amazing... But I love the characters, so I'll forgive a bit too... I tried reading the comments on Slate - then I remembered why I don't visit that site much... even putting aside that they hate a show I love, they're pretty much annoying whiners.

Big Hollywood : 'October Baby' Review: A Poignant Tribute to Healing and Forgiveness

if only the past was that positive... I know of several post-WWII marriages that shipped the child from a 1st marriage off so the new husband wouldn't have to deal with a child that wasn't his (usually a child of a deceased vet). Or of those kids & wives who were dumped when dad decided he wanted to make a new life somewhere else... and all of these stories are within the last 150 years... While I agree that we need to support marriage for the blessing to the individual, to the children, and to the country that it is, we also shouldn't whitewash a messy past where there weren't any "good ole days".

The Princess Bride deserves the #1 spot... love that movie and will watch it every time I come across it - at whatever point... Otherwise only about 1/2 make my list of movies I've sat all the way through once, let alone would rewatch... Raiders, Die Hard, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Star Wars - any time Incredibles, Dirty Dancing, Back to the Future, Breakfast Club, Clueless, Galaxy Quest - sometimes... the rest - between eh and nope John Wayne: McLintock! is my favorite JWayne movie!
