Except the fact that Verizon when it picked up Android promised to NOT nickle and dime people to death for the functionality that is built into the platform. This is simply a way they are working around it.

I have to agree here and add that Verizon's statement is a bit misleading, although to achieve this you must have root access, which no carrier is going to REALLY advocate. I stand by my statement that the reason they are not working on some sort of solution is that there is already a solution in the pipe, and they are going to charge their customers for it.

I confirmed this tip by calling all of the local Kansas City CORPORATE stores, authorized resellers knew nothing about the early release and many knew nothing about the PHONE.

ALL of the corporate owned stores said they were selling them as of right that minute, and had plenty in stock. If your corporate store says no, I certainly apologize, I went with the confirmation that I got from 3 corporate stores here in Kansas City,

See Josh, the difference is that Apple is the only maker of the iPhone, so they are the only company to blame for the issues being had. All the issues you mentioned are valid, but not Google's fault, and certainly not in the same realm of hardware not working like it should. And no one in the Android world is telling the Android users "You're holding it wrong".

Sidekick was a code name, the sidekick brand is gone, it was used as misdirection I believe.

I have no idea, unless it is made of some incredibly cheap plastic. The only thing I can think of is that this thing may be a g1 with a bigger screen, and if that is the case, it would be something that would be WAY behind the curve.
