I'm with you on the screen display issue. If it's not in the gnome screen saver controls and is not in the X client config, then it MUST be in the display driver code somewhere. Most of the drivers that hook into X accept the full command set from X. So, I'd double check that you didn't miss a config option. Sometimes there are three different ways to set something and only one of them is recognized by any given driver. Silly drivers.

I think somewhere deep inside my brain there is a keepalive script running, providing a response to a stimulus that has yet to occur just to prevent it from happening.

When I say what I'm thinking, I find others to be at a distinct advantage. An advantage that is rarely taken, thankfully, but it's there none the less. And that makes me very uncomfortable.

I, too, leave movies, books, TV shows, and new music thinking "YAY" or "NAY". Anything beyond that generally requires a second look. I lack the ability to write a 12 page review (as some people do) based on one run through of the material. Maybe I'm just justifying my own existence here, but, I think people who "can" do this are either insane, lying, or making shit up as they go along. Not that there's anything wrong with any of those three things.

And I must offer a full reverb effect with chorus as I say "FUCK YES" in regard to "What?" being the appropriate answer to such questions. I'm all for questions and learning. But there are somethings that are just better DONE.
