My father and husband (Army and Navy respectively) both served in Vietnam, though my dad was the grunt on the ground while my husband was tinkering with bombs on Guam, so you can bet family get together's are fun at "our" house! lol

It's VERY out of line when your husband was unemployed from Sept. 08 to March 09, you have NO savings other than change in a coffee can, and you own NO assets.

My husband is now eligible for health insurance at his job...they want 12 dollars a week for him, but for all three of us, it's almost $300 a month! I could go get Blue Cross/Blue Shield my self for THAT. It's ridiculous and he's signing the waiver today to decline it.
I have no idea why our health care system costs are so ridiculously expensive. As a poor person, I feel forgotton.
BUT! I don't WANT a "hand out" from the government, nor do I think they should interfere with our free markets. I would like something to be done about all the fraud and waste. If we weren't flushing billions down the toilet, people like me might actually be able to afford insurance, or at the LEAST a doctor visit instead of burdening our already overworked Emergency Rooms.

I've never had health insurance in my life. I've never worked at a job that offered it, nor could I EVER afford to buy it on my own. I've probably spent on average... $50 dollars a year on "health care" in the last 5 years but would have paid over $300 dollars a month for me, my son and my husband for "insurance".
What I'm going to do if I ever get truly sick, I do not know. But there's NO WAY I can afford insurance, nor would I ever pay for it if I could!!! It's a racket and a scam if you ask me.
