Big Government : Madison Madness: Taxpayers Have Had Enough

Being a fellow Minnesotan, I feel confident the Legislature will drive Dayton to the edge of insanity, like the last time he was in office. Remember he was the guy who quit last time, and will quit again when he is stymied at every turn. What I am hoping for is to be drawn out of Ellison's district.

Big Government : Monday Open Thread: Manifesto Edition

Well here in snowy Minnesota, I'll have sometime to reflect on what our Founders have brought forth upon our land. Seeing how the plows haven't come though yet, I even get to cruise the Bigs for a bit. Stand with Gov. Walker, and support his fight for fiscal sanity. This is what we have been waiting for, and the success in Wisconsin will be replicated many times over across our land. Go us!

there are more of us than you know...... generally hanging around the Capitol around tax time.. stick around, I'm sure this will be a good year for us in the Minnesota Legislature. Perhaps I will even be re-drawn out of Ellison's district.

Hopefully, when the new Republican legislature re-draws the districts, I will be drawn out of Ellison's, so I don't have to spend every election knowing that my vote is disqualified by legions of welfare takers.

Big Government : Thanksgiving Open Thread

HappyThanksgiving to all of the Bigs, and those who add to the discussion. I'm thinking there will be some interesting table talk this year. I'm thinking that bringing up how energy and food have been removed from the way inflation is figured out should be at the top of the list.

Big Government : It’s Official - The FCC Will Vote to Take Over the Internet in December

Seems to me that after the House re-convenes it will be time to stop funding regulatory agencies like DOE,FCC,EPA,FDA and whatever other mischief makers are out there. With no money, they can't enforce anything. Take the government shutdown option and only give a continuing budget resolution that is so painstakingly detailed in it's scope that you can effectively cut government spending by 30-45%.

Big Government : Monday Open Thread: JFK Edition

JFK would be recognized as a moderate Republican today. That being said, his death allowed LBJ to add a vital piece to the progressives playbook. The "war on poverty" has enslaved generations, and consolidated the blue power structure in the urban areas of America. What it has amounted to is legalized slavery, and a corruption of the political system as it exists today. Generations on the dole have been denied participation in the free market system as a producer, not just a consumer. Our parents were and are correct, what you don't work for, you don't appreciate. With the amount of people on the dole, there should be no litter on any public street, no snow on any public sidewalk, no graffiti on any public building. Putting the dependent class to this work would be the best use of our current welfare system. It would reduce the sense of entitlement, and once people find that money isn't free, motivation for a better life has the chance to kick in. We will always have people that will need to be cared for, and some will need to looked after long term. But to continue to subsidize indolence has to stop. I was a youngster when JFK was killed, and I remember it the same way I remember Neil Armstrong stepping on the moon, 9-11, and oddly enough the OJ verdict.
