I don't think that you are misinformed by this post, I'm just helping those newbie blogger to be on the page results of Google. I know that it's really easy to get indexed by Google in a matter of minutes if you are using Wordpress but what if you are using another blogging platform like blogspot do you think they know those kind of stuff (plugins and xml). In this post I'm talking about getting indexed by google in general and not only focusing on wordpress. Please keep in mind that not all bloggers are using wordpress.
