As money gets tighter, we cut spending. I do not go to my employer and demand more money. I am fine with increasing tax credits for the lower 60%-65% of taxpayers. I strongly disagree with giving them more money then they paid in taxes. That is not a "refund", it is welfare. I do not believe that up to 60% of our population should be entitled to welfare. That should be reserved for the most financially hard pressed citizens. The quote is from the WSJ not Obama. Obama will be a Spend and Tax president; I fear his tax plan. I make a good living for my family, and I am in a higher tax bracket. I work very hard for what I achieved in life and what I earn in compensation. I feel I pay more than my fair share in taxes already (yes, I am bitter: I took home ~45% of my bonus check last year - is this fair?). For one thing, Obama wants to increase capital gains tax. If he gets his way, I will net less then 1/2 of the profit of an investment that I hold for less than one year. I put my post tax money at risk, actually made a profit, and now I have to give 50%-55% of the profit back to the State/Fed?!? This number is up in the air, as California has not passed a budget, so I do not how much they are going to raise their cut.
