130 weeks ago @ Mississippi Atheists - Brad Harrub (1) · 1 reply · +2 points
I realize that I'm standing before the firing line here, but here goes... (Understand this though: I'm not an apologist, nor do I claim to be. I do somewhat have a knowledge of apologetics, and I'm okay with it, so I'm not here to argue/debate with people who have put much more time and effort into disproving God than I have. I am here to defend what went on at the Collierville church of Christ last weekend. It was not a "hate speech" and it didn't "promote hate." It was the truth backed by evidence)
"The information is misrepresented, the Christians accept it uncritically, and the atheists do their best to correct the misinformation in the question and answer period."
"Others, such as Lucy, Dr. Harrub had to weaseled this on his own to discredit the fossil."
"And yes, the atheists defended the theory of evolution"
"Dr. Harrub asked one of the atheists where he gets his morals, and he answered that morals primarily come through the avoidance of pain and suffering. Dr. Harrub then asked if it was moral to beat small girls who are unable to experience physical pain due to a neural disability (6)"
"There was one church member who was mocking all of the questions on morality by cocking his index finger and thumb as if it were a gun and pointing it at various people in the room (complete with making the shooting sound)." [completely untrue. He pointed the finger at a Christian and said that he could kill him and take his wife according to the atheist's argument - you'll just have to listen]
"The atheists asked why god would command genocide in the Old Testament. Dr. Harrub said that god would never command such a thing, and we would never be able to provide Bible verse to support a claim." [I appreciate the reference to the Bible, but Brad said there's not a passage that says that the babies will be put on the end of a spear. Again, you can listen and back me up on that]
All of the above are quotes from the above post and are either wrong or slanted to look good to an atheist viewpoint. I'm sure there are others, but I didn't take the time to analyze every statement. And I won't take the time to elaborate on how/why they are wrong or slanted, because you can listen to the audio of the lecture and q&a session and hear it for yourself. In fact, I'd love for you to do that, but I don't have the audio for the session the person above wrote about. It didn't record properly to our system, but the good news is that the writer of the above piece does have a recording. I asked him for it, but he decided not to give it to me. He said he wanted me to apologize for having Brad Harrub promote hate, but I won't apologize - Brad didn't promote hate, he promoted the truth backed by evidence (you can hear all about it if you can get the audio from that guy). It sounds to me that the guy doesn't want me to have the audio because there are things on it that are not good for the atheists. Try and get that audio, you should be surprised by the conduct of some of the atheists in attendance.
Even better news - I have the audio for the rest of the weekend seminar. And I'd love for you to have it. If you want it (I realize that if you are cut from the same cloth as some of the atheists in attendance, then the only reason you want the audio is to pick apart what he said and try to disprove God. But hopefully there are some out there who actually want to find the truth), please post a comment with some way to contact you (email or physical address) and I'll be glad to get you the audio.
Thanks for reading. This is my first and last comment on this site. So if you want to debate, find someone else. I will let the truth stand for itself.
The truth will not back down.
