It's unlike to have anything else in, purely from a cost point of view - Ecstasy costs a small fortune in Thailand, and Mushrooms cost next to nothing, so it doesn't make sense to add anything else. (Think in the region of 1,000 Baht per pill - Though fakes are obviously cheaper)

I know in my case, one of the reasons I got so wasted was because while we were passing the shakes around, only a couple of us were doing any serious drinking, so while at the time I though I was having about a 6th of what was bought, it was more like half :o)

The Thai RedBull/M150/Communist Cow(Not it's real name, but you know energy drink with the evil cow skull on front) all give you a massive kick beyond anything you get in the west, a few bottles of them will keep you awake till dawn better then some black market stuff. So a few buckets gets you wired in ways your body isn't used to and the kick, combined with Mushrooms can produce some crazy results.

I do, but to get it into a blog takes some more formatting, and sending half a dozen emails, and chatting to a couple of people at the same time still eats time quicker then you'd think.

Aside from the obvious problems of getting into Thailand, I haven't been put off my plans of heading out there for six months or so, though I'll avoid Bangkok until it calms down I can't see political protests in the capital troubling me too much while I'm sitting in hammock on the beach or mooching through the tropical forests.

So for now I'm just working out alternative routes into the country, probably via Malaysia and will just keep an eye on the news and stay aware of the situation as it continues.

Yeah, nearly got in trouble myself with four of us in a twin room in Bangkok - Didn't need a full room as three of us only needed to put our heads down for an hour or two before leaving for the airport at 2am leaving our friend on her own, but we negotiated and handed over our passports for the couple of hours we were stopping and they seemed reasonably okay with that.

So yeah, you need to be savvy, and respect the fact you might be pushing things in some places.

Best money saving plan I've come across so far has to be getting as many people into a room as you can - At one point when I was staying on Koh Chang in Thailand friends of mine had three girls sharing a double bed, with a fourth sleeping in a hammock outside on the balcony.

Sure that many people in one place not the most comfortable thing ever, but if you figure slightly over crowded but comfortable huts can be more comfortable still then the cheapest accommodation at regular capacity. And it'll depend on the group of people you happen to be traveling with, but given you room is one of the biggest day to day costs, been a bit more liberal about your arrangements can save a lot in the long term, or even short term.

It's really cool to see Treehouse on this list, when I was on Koh Chang the place was the starting point to many Awesome nights of partying, particularly when you get a storm coming in over the sea and people are hanging off the rails to catch to spray from the waves and watching the lightening before the rain hits and people go kinda wild dancing in tropical down pour.

I'm with Shanel in thinking running is a little too intense for my liking - particularly in a more tropical climate - but I can see the attraction if that's your thing. Personally, I've started to practice yoga as my keep fit method of choice, though I had started with Tai-Chi previously. Since I'll be touring around South East Asia from the end of the year there are many more opportunities to get some yoga lessons around my current set of destinations, so it makes a logical choice of exercise.

I find using the maps in flickr ( http://flickr.com/map ) to be a very handy way to find great locations, even locally you can uncover hidden views easily, and get a feel for somewhere before you arrive.
