wtf? not very conservative of you. i'd argue for arming all citizens. better civilian vigilance would keep the terrorists from acting. you've heard 'more guns, less crime'? it should be mandatory high school reading.

however, your way off scale. curtailing some rights in no way advocates obliterating all rights. the idea is to be effective, and what you describe is anything but.

of course, that doesn't sound good. however, my understanding is that warrants are still needed, just not necessarily before the search, and naturally its not in our interests to notify people when they're being investigated. could this lead to abuse....of course. are we as a nation strong enough to sacrafice some freedoms in order to win this war...i think so. case in point, the p-act is up for reauthorization every couple years. i wish all laws were.

good points. if we marshaled our resources better and smarter, we might be able to win the war, while protecting all our freedoms.

that said, what rights exactly are being violated? i hear whispers of this or that, but when it comes down to it, there's no clear violation of the constitution that i'm aware of. unless you consider your presence and action in a shopping mall to somehow be private, which they're not. or your library reading habits...c'mon. if you don't support roaming wiretaps, then you better talk to your local police. much of what the 'p-act' did was give the feds the same tools local authorities have.

if people are so concerned about their sacrosanct rights, how do they feel about living under sharia? and if people think that by curtailing our freedoms, we've already lost, bull!!!

again, first we win the war, then we address our rights/freedoms; we are that strong.

wtf? islam is an existential threat. i have the sinking feeling that too many conservatives would rather die paying homage to the constitution, than man-up and fight the war.
first we win the war, then we restore our freedoms.

didn't i just read a FP article about how moderate and benevolent the muslim brotherhood actually are? that doesn't seem to match their global caliphate goals of this article.

your history's wrong. try reading books, instead of just websites.

modernizing your nuclear arsenal makes sense, and i hope they are truly modernized and stable . unfortunately, we are the defacto world's police force. we get blamed when we don't act, and when we do, even while so many others benefit without sharing the cost. regardless, i would have thought any u.s. mid east actions (iraq) would be viewed by Russians as dovetailing their actions in Chechnya. after all, we are all are fighting islam.

mm...i'd like to know how the access to our platforms and warheads isn't a security risk, and how this privilege won't get politicized and abused. russia's forced to reduce it's warheads simple because they're old and decaying, so what's in it for us?

i didn't see a single 'harsh austerity' measure specified, and i'm no better informed after reading this hyperbolic fluff.

i was stopped in the Udist for jay walking. my brother was stopped downtown. that's two separate incidents of white guys getting stopped for jay walking. i should add, no fighting occurred.
