The news 1st reported he was holding a gun, along with the baby. They then changed that to the gun was within "lundging" distance, while he was holding the baby - the officer felt threatened and shot him in the BACK of the head. Sorry, this officer is a cowboy, needs to be retired.
I don't disagree, however there are very few, if any homes in the "true" flood plains. In fact, we utilize what's called "flood irrigation" here in my area. Our lots get flooded at least 1x/month depending on season, up to 2x/month in the summer! Our house, as well as those in the neighborhood are build at least to accomadate this, so the chances of an actual flooding of my house it impossible!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not against flood insurance, it just seems that FEMA sets the "boundries" as well as the premiums. The "formula" for these premiums doesn't seem like it has anything to do with risk, more like how much you can afford based on the area you live!
Wonder how much the UAW's contributions to democrats in this elections cycle will increase? Maybe about the same as the savings they'll glean from sticking it to management.
How about selling these trailers at auction, and returning part of the outragous FEMA "flood insurance" premiums to those of us who paid for this! I live in the desert of Arizona, yet FEMA says I'm in a 100 year flood plain, and I have to pay over $1,000/year to insure my home against floods!
Time for these ündercover" informants to unionize. Doesn't sound like much money for such a dangerous mission!
<sarc>
I don't believe in "public sector unions" in general, but if there was ever a case for justifying one, members of our armed services would be it.
Couldn't agree more, in fact my wife said pretty much the same thing. For me, watching her repeatedly grinding her hips & spreading her legs, was pathetic. Maybe when she was in her 20's, but I guess at 53 the joints just can't make those "sexy" movements anymore.
Not a suprise at all, we all know the majority of apple users are whimps, so shutting them down is no great feat. Now if they had tried to shut down, let's say, a Cabela's, they would have had their arses handed to them in the parking lot!
These "loan guarantees" have to stop, or at the very least have independent review & oversight by non politicians. This is nothing more than money laundering for campaign funding, and it appears that both sides are guilty of doing it.
The arrogance of our government is unreal! Having been in the insurance business for over 24 years, I've watched the developement of LTC plans by the industry since the 1st plan offered by John Hancock. In the late 90's many, many companies jumped into the LTC business, 5 years later 75% of them jumped back out when the realized they couldn't manage the risk. It's taken 20+ years to accumulate accurate actuarial information that allows carriers to manage the risk of benefits vs premiums.
The costs are huge, and for the government to believe that they could take this on, let alone manage correctly, shows me that they had no idea of what they were getting into.
