KOMO - Seattle, WA : Seattle police sergeant cited for DUI | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking N

wow, another one? and the WSP had the "integrity" to not throw his butt in the pokey either? i'm starting to believe that anyone ever convicted by the SPD or WSP in the past 10 years for a minor offense should have their records expunged due to the charging organizations being of questionable integrity.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Officer threatens to make up evidence after arrest of innocent men | Local & Regional | Seattle News

if it were just a few of the same names attached to these sorts of incidences coming from the SPD, it would be one thing. but seeing a new report with a different cop every time is getting sickening. i'm appalled that still nothing is being done to reel in some sort of control of the department. the city needs to take responsibility or be held accountable by the public if they lack the integrity to serve the public as they have sworn to do.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : AT&T now slowing some of heaviest 'unlimited data' customers | Technology | Seattle News, Weather,

i'm a "heavy" user and i'm on the 5GB tiered plan, and i have never exceeded 2GB per month. i tether my laptop, iPad, and my gf's iPod touch whenever we're out and telecommuting. i use it to send applications back and forth to clients and coworkers, update movie files for youtube, and post reviews to both youtube and my personal website as well as photos that accompany those reviews. and yet i have never been able to exceed even 2GB of data per month. so anyone who says they're "only looking at a few photos and sending a few text messages" is lying, especially since text messages arent counted against your data allotment. however, i am concerned about three things with AT&T: unlimited means unlimited. if there are stipulations, then it's not unlimited and shouldnt be advertised as such and the FCC needs to get involved. second is their idea that data is segregated... their extra charge for tethering is a joke and violates the fundamentals of net-neutrality. lastly, they need to accept the fact that they're just a dumb pipe and shouldnt be afforded any right to segregate data; if people want to watch TV on their pocketable devices, then let them. i'd like to switch to verizon, but their current data speeds are apalling. until LTE is in full swing, i'm a slave to AT&T as their data speeds are more than double that of verizon in real-world use.

i could accept your point if we werent already paying taxes for a police force who is simply not doing their job in this matter. however, as it stands, we the residents pay for community policing. and when someone pays for a service but doesnt receive that service, "whinging" is not only expected, but is required to begin the course of correcting the situation. otherwise, the only thing you've managed to state is that just because people pay for a service doesnt mean they should get it. very hypocritical of you.

for Twin Lake residents: just in case you do need actual police presence, remember that there's always at least 3 officers at Marista's at all hours. just call the cafe and ask them to dispatch someone if you need a report taken.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : PSE proposes rate increases for electricity, gas | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports,

unless they plan on hiring more line workers or keep up with maintenance of tree growth sitting over power lines that wait to fall and cut power during the next storm, they're undeserving of a rate increase when wholesale prices on both electricity and natural gas are at their lowest in years. some maintenance operations are clearly being neglected and thus the funds relegated to those types of tasks are being pocketed. besides, with no increase in services, why do they need an 8% increase... especially during a time where our country's been experiencing annual economic deflation?

there's obviously government controls in place already. did you not read the very first paragraph, which says that these proposals are aimed at the state for approval? PSE cant raise rates without the approval of state regulators... you know, the "gov't control to keep them in control" you wish we had, regardless of the fact that we already have that and even says so in the article you're commenting on. this government operated oversight committee is called the Utilities & Transportation Commission.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Police arrest driver who fled from Federal Way police shooting | Local & Regional | Seattle News, We

actually, she made a really, really dumb decision that ended with an officer involved shooting and a dead suspect... all of which could have been avoided had she considered the safety of the general public, or at least exercised some common sense to handle it the way she was trained, instead of looking for a gun fight. 2 suspects in a car where she is outnumbered and surrenders all tactical advantages she had even before she got out of her seat. she SHOULD have requested backup, get fine details of the suspects and vehicle, get in her vehicle and use it to block in the suspects to minimize their opportunities to run, and engage the suspects only if absolutely necessary before backup arrives, otherwise, wait for back up since she couldnt determine if they were armed. knowing how busy that area is (former Metropolitan Market parking lot), she could have taken a complete profile of the suspects and their vehicle, called for backup who could have blocked them in as well as create more favorable numbers, followed them after they left, etc... all things that would have been just as effective that results in a safer apprehension rather than a desperate driver running in mid-day and a dead suspect who will never see trial, topped with the reckless endangerment of local residents, commuters, and shoppers, by way of shots fired, the escalation of a possible gun fight, and another suspect evading in a vehicle. like i said at the start: the cop involved made a very poor decision that needlessly endangered innocent citizens with her attempt to be a "hero." reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and with a motor vehicle by giving chase to the fleeing suspects.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Soldiers: JBLM lockdown hurting morale | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking

it could have all been stored in a single, unaccounted for cargo bin that's sitting on the tarmac still in Iraq... which, if the monetary numbers and items are correct, is likely what happened. someone at air mobility command tasked with inventory of returning equipment could have simply checked it off the chalk and let the bird fly while missing a container. because the idea that a handful of soldiers smuggling $600k in nvg's and scopes during the iraqi pullout is highly unlikely. we faced the same kinds of accountability (and resulting lockdowns) when we closed prince sultan air base back in 2000. sadly it happens, but the excitement of going home after a long, arduous deployment plus packing equipment and having a sponsor established deadline can cause some to defer their duties. hell, if a C-5 is involved, it could be sitting on the tarmac, awaiting spare parts in diego garcia and will turn up in a week or two.
