Deep Into Sports : NFL AFC & NFC Championship Games Picks and Analysis – Football

Great article in the LA Times this morning about the friendship between Belichick and Harbaugh and how BB helped Harbaugh land the Ravens' head coaching job. That age in the middle could truly be deadly for Baltimore with the two tight-ends and Welker working that area to death.

Tebow is so coachable because he is so humble. Say what people will about his religiosity, but it does help his approach to the game.

Deep Into Sports : Alabama Crimson Win BCS National Championship - NCAA College Football

Very interesting that someone incapable of using proper punctuation and compelled to shout in ALL-CAPS like a two-year-old slamming a keyboard calls somebody else a moron. My, how the American education system has fallen. Did Alabama's offense show potential? Yes. But did they fulfill said potential? Absolutely not. One touchdown, late in the game, after all those drives deep into LSU territory, is lackluster at best and pathetic at worse.. Obviously my point about Oklahoma State went way over your head. I never claimed that the Cowboys would win such a game. Maybe they would have done so, maybe they would not. A shutout I seriously doubt. Claiming definitively that would be the case is a perfect example of exactly the same kind of BS hubris upon which the whole BS BCS system is based. It is a shame that the BCS deprived us of the opportunity to see that game because of no playoff.

Deep Into Sports : NFL Week 15 Thursday Night Pick and Analysis - Football

What does the NFL think it is, the NBA (with its growing inconsistencies and star treatment)? I, too, have been very disappointed with the Bucs. Wherefore art thou, proper tackling technique? The NFL will always have helmet-to-helmet contact--it's the nature of the game--but if players were taught how to tackle properly we could still have the hard-nosed, tough game we love without nearly the problems.

Would so love to see the Pack go undefeated and shut up the Dolphins. How ridiculous a passing offensive shootout would a Patriots-Packers Super Bowl be? Rodgers is heads-and-tails above everybody else in the league right now. As you said, that's an amazing statement considering who else is still around.

First off, love Tito's Vodka. It's among my favorites, along with Russian Standard and Grey Goose. You wouldn't think vodka and Texas, but it is great. Used to listen Chris Russo on the "Mike & the Mad Dog" show on WFAN in New York (and many of the FAN's other programs) when I lived in Connecticut and Long Island. Says something about the quality of their commentary/coverage that I who hate all NY teams enjoyed and appreciated a NY sports talk station that much. Did you notice that the person to whom DeSean "The Idiot" Jackson threw the ball was also black?

Couldn't agree more with some of your education comments. Much of what the Teachers' Union does is completely in conflict with the advancement of the students its members are supposed to educate (I come from a family of teachers, so I've seen first hand). And the lack of parental responsibility is appalling. What I don't understand is your implication that comes with, "Excuse me, I thought this was America, where even successful, famous men like Franco have the inalienable right to be tone-deaf assholes if they so choose." Regardless of whether one agrees with the punishments levied on Harris, I know that you know that no such rights have been violated.

The support of JoePa by Penn State's fans was disgusting and disappointing. Part of being a leader is making the difficult decision or the unpopular one. Paterno failed miserably in that regard. A leader he was not.

Couldn't agree more...if the NCAA wanted to show that it really had teeth, that it really had balls, that it really wanted to clean up college athletics, it would nail Penn State with the death penalty. The NCAA, of course, has no interest in cleaning up the sports of their actual corruption, but this goes so far beyond anything else that there truly is no excuse not to take such action.

THANK YOU!!! What does it say about the lack of intelligence (or at least education) of those making such an uproar that they do not understand the difference between an analogy and a comparison? Although not a good or well thought-out analogy, an analogy Hank Williams, Jr.'s comment was. If not plain stupidity, what it otherwise comes down to is just another case of the uber-sensitivity exhibited by both sides in the ultra-partisan days that blinds rational thought. Place any two opposing sides in that analogy and would the uproar have been so sore? In the immortal words of The Who, "We all got fooled again." And again, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss." Politicians are all the same.

Yes, bring back the Golden Tampon for Vick. If indeed Vick does not get the same calls, a large part of it is that he acts like a running back instead of a drop-back passer. If refs do see him differently, it is because he plays the game differently.

Great Final, and great tournament overall. Watching the Big 3 play each other, it's amazing to see how much better, stronger, accurate, you name it all three are compared to everybody else -- even when not playing everybody else. Murray is a VERY distant fourth.

That's a big part of it. They are so obnoxious about it. And the media so often seems to have given them a pass based on their previous success. As long as they weren't an absolute disaster coming into the season, they always were predicted to do well--based on what? And learn how to play in cold weather, real football weather.

It used to be, amongst me and my Buffalo Bills / New York Jets fan friends of other teams, we may not have liked each other's teams, but the one thing we agreed upon was that we despised Miami. The Jets have sunk to that level for me, all because of Rex Ryan.

The exact moment Young came of age was dominating the tie-break vs. Wawrinka after blowing an earlier match point opportunity. More so than simply being able to put somebody away, the true mark of a mature player is being able to shake off a blown opportunity and still play well, not letting the lost chance linger in your mind and foil the rest of your efforts. Shame to see Monfils go out when he did. That first match was uber-entertaining. Four Americans in the Final 16--maybe the American men are finally coming back!
