Big Hollywood : Comedy Central's Keegan-Michael Key: 'If You Don't Like Michelle Obama ... You Can Go to Hell'

Why do they want to tank their careers when they're just getting noticed? And when their ratings drop -- as they always do when celebrities pull this kind of schtick -- they will be kicked to the curb by those who encouraged them.

Big Hollywood : Catholic League Denounces Nicki Minaj's 'Vulgar' Grammy Performance

I think Adele's no-gimmicks performance made a fool of pretty much every other artist who relied on all the shock nonsense. All I'm seeing in the reviews is disdain for Minaj and even Gaga who didn't perform. All it takes is one brave enough to just put her voice and music out there and steal the show to highlight the other emperors and empresses have no clothes. Both literally and metaphorically, of course.

Big Hollywood : The Hypocrisy of Hollywood's Whitney Houston Sorrow

And we don't know that that didn't happen here. Having been part of a group who tried to help an addict, you can only do so much. Just because we don't know the details of what people tried to do over the years doesn't mean attempts were never made. It's unfair to call those grieving hypocrites when Ben doesn't even know the whole story.

How do we know they didn't? It's very hard to have a positive effect on a drug addict. Nearly impossible when that addict is rich and famous and surrounded by people who want to be their "friends".

I agree. It's unfair to blame her friends. I'm also slightly uncomfortable with blaming Bobby Brown. Do we know for sure that he introduced her to hard drugs? I know her behavior pre and post their relationship is markedly different, but it's possible he came in as part of an existing, growing problem she already had.

Self-aggrandizing through a show of grief is indeed tacky, but I refuse to believe they aren't actually grieving. I just posted something similar about "helping" a drug addict. In the end it's up to the addict to want to be helped. I think having fame, power and money is one reason celebrity drug addicts have such a hard time kicking it. They can always find a "yes man".

I have to disagree. I had a friend who became completely lost in drugs. One by one, everyone who has ever cared about him has had to cut him loose. He is erratic, unreliable, and sometimes threatening. He has zero interest in quitting drugs. It doesn't mean everyone will not be sad when he finally goes (because it's impossible to believe at this point that he will ever recover), but it does mean we all realize he couldn't be helped by anyone but himself. It's still a tragedy and grief over that kind of thing is not hypocrisy. Everyone either knows a drug addict who has had to be cut loose or a friend/loved one who has had to do the cutting. It is not an easy thing. If Houston had been serious about getting well -- at least for the sake of her daughter -- she would have tried harder. Whether she would have succeeded or not is uncertain, but she at least would have made it her life's work to get clean. Look at Robert Downey Jr. He was pretty much written off and thrown in the dead pool as the next celebrity to kick it. Now he's Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man. Goes to show -- if you try hard enough, you can regain your functionality. He may have had friends who showed him more tough love than she did, but it doesn't mean they loved him more, it just means they went about it a different way.

Give your donations directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering (or another cancer research facility). MSK does excellent work in research and you can bypass the middle man. Even if they weren't funding organizations that have nothing to do with their stated mission of breast wellness, you'd still be losing a big chunk of your donation to overhead by giving through Komen. Give straight to those doing the work. You can designate it specifically for breast cancer if you like and there ya go. You've done it without the help of a large leftist organization that will actually only get your donation dispersed to the cause at a fraction of each dollar. What's ironic is that studies have found a higher risk of breast cancer in those women who have had abortions. So SGK giving money to PP is kind of like a dentist giving out lollipops.

Big Hollywood : End the Occupation: Comic-Creating Conservatives Must Push Back Against Upcoming Pro-OWS Works

I completely agree with this! And I've said before that conservatives are missing the boat on trying to make films and art and then trying to distribute it through Democrat/leftist channels. Trying to play their game. It won't work. You're just contributing to their power. Publishing is a great place for conservative resurgence. With digital publishing and fewer gatekeepers the work can see distribution in a relatively short amount of time. With film making it's going to take years to establish an entirely new track of production/distribution outside the union-controlled industry. But it's doable. Good luck with the effort. Eff the Democrats and their tyrannical art stifling.

There you go acting like a Democrat, putting words in other people's mouths. I never said I wouldn't vote for Romney. I don't want to vote for Newt either. But Romney is going to lose big time mainly because of his dishonest campaign tactics in the primary. Remember how the Swiftboat veterans were said to have been "debunked" because of one ever-so-slight possible inaccuracy in their book? Over and over that was the theme. Now imagine they had actually, blatantly lied about something (as Romney has in this instance -- even though it's against Gingrich and not Obama it can be used against him as evidence of character issues). They will toast him like a marshmallow. He'll be our nominee thanks to his tactics, but he will not win the presidency. He'll lose all the independents we supposedly need when he's painted as a dishonest thug.

Yep, Newt was never my first choice. Romney has Romneycare, gun control, pro-abortion bills, AGW belief (John Holdren, look him up) tax hikes, etc. under his belt too. His record sucks worse than Gingrich's and ain't that sad? None of the things you listed excuses this dishonest attack. Mitt Romney is proving himself to be a liar. How do you know you can trust anything on his platform? What is his platform anyway? Regardless, this kind of thing -- the execution and subsequent championing of it -- is a sign that a powerful part of the Republican party is indeed no better than the Democrats. We will lose in 2012 because of this very thing. Count on it.

Exactly what I'm saying. The only thing Romney has is this dishonest, thuggish campaigning. This is how he's defeating the other candidates, not with a solid platform. They will neutralize this immediately -- likely using his primary behavior as proof -- and he won't stand a chance at landing a punch on the weakest candidate we've ever faced. Because everything he says from now on is tainted with this blatant dishonesty and they will use that against him until he's simply toast. The problem is that Romney and his supporters seem to believe the media will continue as they have been in during the primary. Not a chance in hell. They are going to pull a 180 and use all of this against Romney. Forget what the polls say now, they don't represent the reality of the election.
