My daughter and I love chocolate. Too much so. We are working on moderation as diabetes runs in our family and we are both overweight. Not so fond of the dark chocolate as my husband is but there are some that are really good.

I try to unplug appliances but it annoys my family to no end. Like it takes SO much energy to plug it in. LOL We have solar powered pads that charge our phones, etc.

We've just become aware of how many foods are either expired or close to it. It started with a food drive my daughter was in charge of. And there it was. We HAD to check dates because the food bank wouldn't accept expired foods. We were stunned by how much we found in our own cupboards. And by how much was recently purchased. In the past our only experience had really been milk..so we had been checking the dates on that a lot. Interesting about the baby formula. I should check into this as well. There must be some kind of explanation.

My daughter is 17 and has a FB page. I am on her friends list and monitor her page and who her friends are. She also has an email that I have a password to and she knows I check in. I have raised her with a knowledge of all things on the internet..the bad and the good. We have a lot of discussions about what to watch for and the mistakes her friends make. Posting phone numbers on FB and myspace? Completely out of the question but her friends do it all the time. She knows what is allowed and what isn't. I email back and forth with her teachers all the time but we are not friends and they are not friends with her on FB either.

My daughter hasn't slept a night through in about 6 months. My grandson, 15 months old, nurses and wakes her up every few hours. I feel bad..she has tried everything. The letting your baby cry? The walls in their apartment are so thin she just knows the neighbors can hear and she worries about that. Her husband sleeps on the couch so he can go to work in the morning. I have no idea what to tell her and her pediatrician seems clueless to me. I am really worried about my daughter. My grandson has never taken to a bottle or a pacifier and so those options are out.

I understand completely. Isn't it hard to have the discipline, though? Sometimes you just don't want to and have to force yourself to complete something. Also, there are times that others feel that since you ARE at home then you must be available ALL the time...car pools, baking, etc are wonderful and I enjoy doing them but there actually are times I am unavailable. I like the thermostat point. Never thought of that one.

Now that my kids are older this is one of the things I miss...the magical times with tooth fairies and Santa Claus. Thank goodness for grandchildren. It's not quite the same...I don't get to be there in the morning for the Tooth Fairy but my daughter calls me up so we can go over and watch our granddaughter open up her stocking. I love fantasy and fairy tales. Lovely story.

My father has diabetes and has to shoot insulin daily. He is also dying from interstatial lung disease. So for him that is a reason to not follow his diet. I have been trying to tell him that he should still watch his blood sugar. I have learned a lot watching him and as mentioned by Michelle, the socks are a great gift. I bought them for my father and he was surprised to know they were even out there.

This is in my top ten movies. The "Tiny Dancer" scene, when he is given the albums...all of that. As a child of the 70's, I totally get it. Great movie.
